    DIR-compliant regulators in today's market?

Ahh, gotcha. I've decided I'm not going to worry about hose routing at this point, since I'm not planning to go doubles for awhile. When I do, I'll either give my singles rig to my wife or keep it as a dedicated singles rig, since the freedom plate will never be able to carry doubles anyways...

    UTD coming to Colorado

No, I understand. PADI is a powerful marketing tool, and every dive shop can use whatever edge they can get. Kudos to the shop for offering UTD tech classes! :)

    DIR-compliant regulators in today's market?

On this branding thing, is there a list somewhere of equivalent brands? It makes no sense to me to pay more for a name. And, how does one determine optimal hose routing? None of the literature I've found on the Oxycheq first stage, for example, talk about hose routing.

    DIR-compliant regulators in today's market?

    1. Planning to go DIN, environmentally sealed. 2/3. My first purchase was a wrist computer that I only use in gauge mode, checking against tables. Have no desire to dive a console at all. I've had my eye on the DSS compass mount for awhile now. Trying to refrain from buying a brass SPG until I...

    DIR-compliant regulators in today's market?

It's my understanding that the favored regulators have certain routings for the hoses and adjustments for breathing, as well as the ability to be taken apart underwater in the case of a blockage? Maybe "compliance" is the wrong word for me to be using. Hopefully my request does make sense, though.

    DIR-compliant regulators in today's market?

Forgive me if this has been hashed over before. I've done searches for information on DIR-compliant regulators, and have only turned up two - the scubapro MK20 and apeks DS4 seem to be the most popular, but the websites I've found these on seem to be a little older. It seems to me that there...

    UTD coming to Colorado

Does he? Nobody can give me details about him, and emails either go ignored or bounce. I'll try again at some point, I guess. :) I'm not in a rush, anyhow. If you know him, drop me a PM or an email - I'd love to hear what people think of him, and I don't want to hijack the thread further.

    Flaming Gorge

Wow. How many dive clubs are converging on Flaming Gorge this weekend? I know Scuba Ted's will be there, as well.

    UTD coming to Colorado

What does being a PADI rated facility have to do with not being able to teach UTD rec classes? Are they contracturally bound, and is that a valid contract? Seems a bit much to me. I'd be interested in making the drive from Utah and taking rec classes. Sigh. Oh well.. Do keep us updated on the...

    Don't be alarmed

This is probably the most important point made in the thread. Memories and photos may be forever, but if you go against her wishes and something *does* happen out there, you'll find out just how long forever is because she will not let you forget... ever. Ever.

    Differences between Rescue courses?

What are the essential differences between the rescue courses provided by the various agencies? I am looking for something that's going to provide me the most comprehensive training, with extensive hands-on experience and instruction. I do not shy away from learning theory, and in fact welcome...

    Altitude diving

Where you planning to dive? Sand Hollow's the first place that comes to mind, which is near St. George at 3000 feet. The last time I went with a dive group, I don't think any of us really worried about the nitrogen loading when we drove home to Provo (4550 feet, but higher altitudes on the way)...

Anyone up for some last minute diving in Utah?

I just blew off my organic chemistry class, and am withdrawing from the second half. I suddenly have free time; would love to dive with any of you if you're game. Saturday would be nice, or Monday afternoon. I need to get wet. My wife gets back in town Tuesday. :lol Probably should leave that...

    Night diving without certification

The question was asked specifically in relation to going on a night dive with a provided guide in a resort setting. Not in a "should I go off on my own and get killed" context. :) The majority of us here feel night diving is fairly benign, especially compared to deep or wreck diving. So the...

    Night diving without certification

I've got the night diving specialty.. they didn't teach me anything about signalling with my light, which surprised me. Oh well. But the major benefit of the certification was getting comfortable in total blackness, under direct supervision. A little more stress, a little more task loading...

Do you look silly on your cert. card?

Man. My LDS made us stand in front of an US flag to take our picture to show patriotism. It messes the color tone of the picture up and takes away my ability to tell people that I'm Canadian, should pirates or terrorists ever board my boat. ;)

    WTB: Yellow Jet Fins

I'm planning to paint a yellow stripe on mine one of these days. A tidbit that I picked up from awhile ago on here is to use Yellow Rust-Oleum spray paint. It's supposed to stick better, I think. There's a swedish dive shop that carries yellow ones that are supposed to be identical, but they...

    Paranormal Diving?

Why not just reduce the chances of getting your octo stuck in the submerged cars and go long hose with bungeed backup? Seems like that'd be better sized to the job at hand. Then again, I don't have experience with penetration or public service diving, so I am curious as to the rationale behind...
