What kind of diver are you?

Active Recreational Diver: I dive when ever I can, recreationally, cold or warm water, local and on vacation. (about 30 or so dives a year) Rec-tech Diver: I dive frequently but not generally in caves or wrecks but my gear is technically inspired. Minimalist/Vintage Diver: I dive frequently but...

    LDS tank rental policies?

My new favorite dive shop charges one price ($8) for a tank, checking it out on Thursday and returning it Monday. The price is the same if you pick it up on friday or saturday. They're closed sundays, but the weekend price is the weekend price.

Saw the new Halcyon "Infinity" adjustable harness today...

Wow, for that kind of price, I'd probably be more inclined just to buy two BP/W rigs to be used with my different exposure levels. Of course, I'm probably not the target market. :)

Power inflator technique (on a short corrugated hose)

I just wanted to follow up and mention that I've now found it much easier to dump through my rear dump valve instead of the inflator hose during a dive, since I'm already horizontal. I've become more comfortable with the equipment simply by modifying my technique some.

    New Utah Dive Site...maybe

The Daily Herald reports that there will be an "open house" at the new American Fork Lower Reservoir today 7/18/09, from 12-2. The article mentions the scuba diving, but it's unclear if the diving is being lumped in with the canoe/kayak program that isn't scheduled to begin until next year. I...

    "Strut Your Mutt" Charity Walk-athon

I'm sorry I didn't get back to this sooner. We met our fundraising goal of $500 exactly, and had a blast. True to my word, I pushed my pregnant wife in a wheelchair that we rented for the event. Both dogs had an absolute blast, although we thought it was an all day thing and some of the stuff...

    Utah Dive-A-Thon

I just wanted to mention that participating in this has been a blast. It's been the perfect excuse to get my wife to allow me to pack in a bunch of summer diving! Anyone else on here participating in the Dive-a-thon? How are ya doing with it? I just hit my 9th dive at Bear Lake, qualifying for...

RMO - what's everybody doing this Labor Day weekend, Sept 5-7th?

I wish! My wife would KILL me; her due date is Sept. 5th. :D That picture is just cruel. I keep looking at it and forgetting to breathe. So pretty..

Anyone order a DIN reg online from leisure pro before?

In my experience, LP has always had someone responding (via email) to the comments I leave in the field before completing my order. You should be okay cancelling it.

    New BP&W Fitting Question

Quick question, since I think I may have missed something when setting up my harness and this thread seems the most on-topic. I keep hearing about harnesses being tight and hard to don/doff. The way I rigged mine, I tighten it by taking up all the slack in the belt. When I release the buckle...

Power inflator technique (on a short corrugated hose)

A picture says a thousand words; thank you so much for that one. I'm not visualizing this. Are we all talking about using the left hand on the inflator slung over the left shoulder? With the "mouth" of the inflator mechanism pointing to the right, as well as the inflator button, and the...

Power inflator technique (on a short corrugated hose)

I was wondering - how do you folks grab your power inflator in a way that's comfortable, if diving with a short (13") corrugated hose? The thought of replacing it with a longer one has crossed my mind, but I'd like to first try to get comfortable with it at this length. Skills problem, equipment...

Is the DIR reg config safe when diving with rec trained divers?

I grow old … I grow old ... I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled. Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach? I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach. I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

    Rec to DIR

Does this DVD (Intro to Tech) have subtitles or closed captions? I believe I have the former. Curious which video(s) you found to be most helpful, mts0628, and the process you went through to teach yourself the frog kick. This is a critical kick that recent dives have really drilled into me the...

    Anxiety issues NEED solving!

What's different between the lake and your Cozumel experience? There could be a number of factors, ranging from physical to psychological (or a combination of both). Comfort - was it maybe the extra reassurance of diving with a Divemaster in Coz that set you at ease? Conditions - was the lake...

Seen this on an lds website and thought it was interesting

I think they meant your home LDS or them, assuming the notice is directed at people from out of town wishing to dive with their outfit.
