    Found Camera - stage.com - Help!

The turtle video would definitely go viral, giving more exposure to the issue and hopefully finding those divers.

    Definition of "Open Water?"

Wait, what? Not sure I get what you're saying. I have a lot more fun on my dives when my buoyancy and my trim are dialed in.. (and don't see where DIR comes into this other than these divers emphasize control of buoyancy and trim..)

    Yearly gear service

Why do you say it's "time to get it serviced"? Are you going by the timeframe, or is your gear giving you indication of deteriorating performance? And, having bought it used, was it ever serviced while in your possession? If the answer is no, I'd probably consider it on almost everything. A...

New to Scuba - Four Concerns

I guess it would be really, really mean to suggest the possibility of candiru in the water.. ;) :D Oh, on a more serious note - I know some divers who have taken Capri Sun juice packets on a dive to refresh themselves at depth or while doing deco stops.. just be sure to bring the empties back out.

    Managing the addiction.

While it's good to push some limits like Lynn said to build your scope of competence, some limits shouldn't be pushed such as bottom time/NDL limits or extremely dangerous conditions far beyond ones' training. Cutting corners is not the same as expanding diving boundaries. I've enjoyed some...

    "The Perfect Dive"

Forget gills, my gorgeous dive assistant Jessica (or George, for the ladies) swims up alongside of me, ready to administer some buddy breathing. As she takes a breath and leans in, I realize she was trained incorrectly and that what she's about to do has a significant carbon dioxide risk, but...

    Shore dive suggestions

I did two dives out at the Edmonds Underwater Park, to this day it remains one of my most favorite dives of all time! 43 degree water, 7mm wetsuit, a really big grouper, a bunch of different kinds of crabs, lots of really small nudibranches (blew my mind, these things did), and a sunken boat. My...

    New gear purchase survey 2010

Seems I make a large scuba purchase every year. This year, I've got the green light to buy a regulator set, so I'm currently in the middle of research and negotiations for the various parts. Right now, leaning towards the newer HOG regulators. Need to talk to my LDS and see what can be...

    Streamlining Training

I think I understood. Current major agency training manuals read like children's books, the "milk". Many of us are clamoring for more comprehensive, in-depth training or at least the information to be accessible to us, the "meat". Ultimately, in the end, we all just want to hit the water and...

    Homestead Crater - Midway, Utah

Love the video, really takes me back. I didn't know they put in wooden booths for changing stations.

Utah Dive Addicts Dive-A-Thon, Round 2!

Sounds good to me! *grin*. I'm currently in New York, will be back around May 9-10. We can talk more when the time draws closer. :)

Utah Dive Addicts Dive-A-Thon, Round 2!

Oh man, you guys know how much fun I had last year with the dive-a-thon. Maybe this year I'll be able to actually, you know, go to the awards ceremony and win something for all that effort. *wry grin*. Well, I've survived to a second year. My wife hasn't shivved me in my sleep yet. And she is...

    Split fins?

Yup. Take a look at the picture below; you'll see a floating bone towards the back below the spinal column. This is the vestigial pelvis; legs would have been attacked here. There are none; the tail is an extension of the spine. The closest approximation human anatomy has is binding the legs...

    Split fins?

I guess I'm a little confused. On that dolphin's tail I'm just not seeing split fins. At all. Unless you mean that little notch? Instead, I see these:

    'Exploding Boobs'

What does having ED (erectile dysfunction) have to do with being a flight nurse? Do I want to know? I mean, I guess I would feel a little reassured if I were the hapless victim, but.. :D

    Stuff I don't need

Pfft. I love my spring straps so much, if I could dive 'em without a big ol' flipper attached, I would. ;) :D:dork2:

    Split fins?

Just don't take a pair of paddles and cut them down the middle to make amazingly neat split fins. My friend who did this is now a statistic at the LA County Coroner's office, and was the presented example of "Why Divers Die."
