I've narrowed it down to 2??

One thing I was really impressed with on the DSS rig is the ease of wing removal. You do not need to remove the cam straps to take the wing on for storage or rinsing it after a dive. W

another spring stap jet fin question

My spring straps attached in a similar manner as you've described. I have a couple hundred dives on them without any issues.

    Reg vs Octo

I went for an inexpensive Octo on my 1st OW setup. Now that I have more experience and have dove in a variety of situations, I appreciate the difference in how a reg flows. Whether you dive with a traditional reg configuration or you are DIR/Hog inclined, the last think I want a panic diver...

First but not last post in this section

Good job. Getting back into shape can be rough! I'm still working on the weight. Cameron's book is great. If you haven't picked up a copy, take time and consider it. Another book that I think is a must have is Core Performance Great exercises and the 12-week workout WILL whip you into...

    Agir Wing

I haven't started carrying Arig wing yet, but I've heard good things. Arig is a Swedish company FWIW. If anyone has any negitive feedback, I would love to hear it. I don't want donut/horse debate, I'm looking for workmanship issues, etc. Thanks.

    help choosing bp/w

I would start with using a basic webbing/hog harness. If you find in uncomfortable you can switch to a padded harness later. Most likely you'll have no issues with webbing and now you have a few more bucks in your pocket. The harness will not loosen, you will not notice the tank sitting...

    Cleaning Regs

I only open the face and rinse if I've been having free-flow issues or after a month or 2 of heavy beach diving.

    Dive Light Suggestions?

Your really need to determine your budget, then look at your options. HIDs are great, but expensive, however, I don't know anyone who has regreted the purchase.

What size of safety spool: 60',80',120'

They are Barry Miller designed spools. Bolt snap fits in the holes pretty easy. The line covers part of the hole, but not enough to obstruct the path.

    Stupid question from a non-cave-diver

HIDs, or any light, really make a difference. During our lost line drills, my buddy and I tucked away on a ledge while the instructor took the 3rd student down to the floor for the drill. Even though we were less than 1 foot away from each other, without lights, I would not know my buddy was...

Enough GUE, tell me about other tech certs

I've just started taking Naui Technical Nitrox, Deco Procedures, and Helitrox courses. I'm fortunate enough to have an instructor that I've been able to dive with as a regular buddy for over a year now. He is only training 2 of us privately since the study materials have all been upgraded and...

What size of safety spool: 60',80',120'

In a cave, you want a 100-150' spool as your safety spool. If you find yourself needing to do a lost buddy/line recovery, you don't want to be pulling out a 50' spool. Most 150' spools are the same diameter as 100' spools. They are slightly wider, which won't be an issue unless you are trying...

    Dive Rite 905

I test dove the 905 twice so far. I found it performed well and the price is right. I plan on trying to dive with another brand in the same price point before purchasing. Just so I have something to compare to.
