How does "real life" OOA looks like?

you were in a pool.... very shallow. At depth, you'll be trying to get a whole lot more air with each breath, so you won't have "minutes". You'll probably only have a breath or 3 after you notice the sudden "difficulty" or "resistance". Remember, though, even if you just exhaled and...

    Key Largo dive op... Update

just a satisfied customer. I don't think I even mentioned the cost of all that quality :) You can get a 2 tank trip for as low as 36.00 (including tanks and weights) with a pre-paid "multidive" card. Ok... I'm done ... for now :)

    Key Largo dive op... Update

My favorite op has finished moving from mm 107 to mm 90.5. Divers City is now located at 90511 Overseas Highway in Tavernier (just south of Key Largo). They carry up to 10 divers and provide a very personalized service. You set up your gear on the pier and they load it all onto the boat...

I should have a better idea this week if I will get to go back permanently :)

A quarter of a million posts!

LOL :) well, if you want to get picky.... deleted posts aren't deleted, just "moved".... so Dectek's post was the 250000th message posted, just not the 250000th post visible to the masses.

ds 125 ttl slave sensor or sync cord

I prefer the sync cord (if it supports TTL). Does that olympus and housing support the use of a sync cord? Just checked the ikelite site.... If you use a sync cord with that setup, you will have to use manual exposure. The ttl sensor will provide "ttl". So in that case.... guess I'd...

    Temp C-card

you should get a temp card. Is your instruction going to be through a dive shop? If so, take along their phone number when you dive with another op... allows them to verify your temp card, if they wish.

Branching off from the digressing solo diver thread

guess I should answer the question too... You have the choice on how you want to dive, and who you want to dive with. If you are diving with somebody new (paired up on a charter, etc.), you need to discuss the dive plan. You need to discuss the plan even with an old buddy, but especially...

Branching off from the digressing solo diver thread

made me think of the time I was diving with my buddy, King Kong Matt. We are just cruising along and giving the "ok" back and forth every few minutes. Well... one time I give him an "ok" and he's looking me in the eyes and gives me the finger back. I just about spit out my reg laughing...

My experience with Books a Million

try the library. Even my tiny local library is linked to a ton of other libraries throughout CT. They gave me a webpage to search online, order online, etc from home and whichever library has them will ship them to the local one, who then calls me. Usually takes 7-10 days. just a thought...

SOP for getting back to the up-line in low visilibity

that could have been a free trip to Bermuda :) Plus you could have looked around for my dive flag while you were drifting in the atlantic (Right, Matt?) ;)

    2 DS50 or 1 DS125

dual strobe will give you more lighting control. I don't think moving to a single 125 will give you much improvement over the 50, UNLESS you need the wider coverage.

SOP for getting back to the up-line in low visilibity

why couldn't the boat come to you after everyone else was aboard? Better than exerting yourself, especially on a deco dive. Plus...weren't there 2 boats there (Little John's and Jim's)? Make 1 come and get you :) as far as a strobe.... It might be useful in good vis. For the...

    Dum

I think they are 20mm rounds with a 15mm sabot of either depleted uranium OR tungsten.

    Ikelite housing lenses

    1. TTL means "thru the lens": flash exposure is determined by the camera. Most digitals have a sensor that measures the strobe light being reflected/returned from the subject and shuts the flash off when enough light has been measured. 2. You don't need it. A lot of people shoot strictly...
