    Name for "Women Only" Forum

Is the gender discrimination advocated acceptable? What about a "whites only" section? If the title is acceptable, then why do feminists tell us that discrimination on the basis of gender is not acceptable? Stepping off my political soap box of giving the feminists a taste of their own...

Dry Suit - Neoprene or shell - which is better (with poll :))

I started diving with a custom made 1/4" farmer john wetsuit with attached hood...froze my ass of in Southern California. Next went to a thin fabric drysuit with a urethane inner coating. Crotch was really low and the suit was draggy in the water, but nice and warm! Would never buy a...

    Suggestions wanted!

I have done the vacation dive thing in Fiji at Turtle Island which is in the Yasawa island group. Turtle island is where they filmed the Blue Lagoon (aka the screw lagoon, lol). What I liked about this was it was authentic south pacific huts called bures. Diving was right out in front of the...

    Anthony's Key Resort

Considering it is rather difficult to get away from work for a week or so, and going on a tropical dive trip isn't exactly inexpensive, for the life of me, why would anyone choose a dive destination where frigging insects consume your flesh and make you thrash in discomfort when you can go place...

    Best drysuit hood?

I didn't go with the attached hood because the first one wasn't bone dry anyway, and air would pocket under my hood top and give me a major 'do. I poked a small hole in teh top to relieve air pockets, but it was a pain dragging it across my face in between dives. Besides, there were times...

    Best drysuit hood?

Looks like a good hood...what did it cost you guys? And isn't it possible to pinch and possibly damage a latex neck seal in the rear zipper, especially if it is metal?

How much moisture is acceptable in a drysuit?

I think Wannabe nailed it right......sweat does not travel south within an undergarment unless you are a raging SweatHog, lol. Any signficant fluids and aparently you must have forgot you were in a drysuit :)

    Dry Suit Comparison?

While you're there, see if they have a yellow and black backpack thingy there with an o2 and a diluent round metal big tube insidewith a strange looking cannister inside that holds this white granular stuff..... I could use a spare one...and i will cop you a $hundy and you can keep the balance.

    Best drysuit hood?

I have had my Viking Pro with the attached "Turbo" hood for 20 years now, and finally got a new one without a hood, just with the latex neck seal. Although I wish there was a flap around it to protect it, on another tangent, what are some of your favorite drysuit seperate hoods? I need to...

    1 man rafts

I have found myself quite far away from boats before, and with a closed circuit rebreather capable of allowing me to stay down for hours coming any day, I would like to get one of those 1 person very compact inflatable rafts that downed military pilots have. I think they are quite compact and...

    Inspiration prices in UK/US?

I ended up finding out that the gas cylindrs from AP Valves are not U.S. Department of Transporation approved, a US agency that fails to prevent airliner and train crashes. My local diving dealer will change the cylinders to OMS brand cylinders which have DOT ratings, and they sew into the BC...

For those of you who use a rebreather, Why?

I haven't started my nitrox training yet, a prerequisite before CCR training. My Inspiration is supposed to be in around mid to late May. There are currently 2 Inspiration's on E-Bay.....

For those of you who use a rebreather, Why?

Try significantly longer bottom times with fully closed circuit systems. Another advantage is less deco times if you are into that. Another advantage, especially if you dive with a wetsuit is the air you breath is quite warm and moist. But most importantly, it's trick!

I see you are out of Laguna Beach....I used to dive alot at Shaw's Cove with my brother.......interesting dive spot..... I just ordered a new Viking drysuit to replace my 20 year old moodel, and am buying all new equipment including an Inspiration closed circuit rebreather.... I make deals...

VR3 v Cochran Commander for CCR?

I just got off the phone with Larry at Cochran and in about 4-6 months they will have a Lifeguarg Gemini that has realtime p02 sensing as well as a single tank pressure sensing and a breathing flow rate sensing capability, all wireless. That seems like the unit to get......

VR3 v Cochran Commander for CCR?

I did notice that the VR3 has a p02 interface for real time deco on the computer. Unless ones setpoints stick tight, and one never forgets to change their computers setpoints to match changing the controller's setpoints real time does seem interesting... Now if Cochran gets theirs....

VR3 v Cochran Commander for CCR?

Well, Cochran's info states; "The Navy is a wrist mounted dive computer based on the U.S. Navy’s extensively tested VVAL-18 constant PO2 algorithm. This algorithm was developed for their Closed Circuit Rebreathers. " I would have to call Cochran, but the Inspiration uses variable p02...

    Prism rebreather

Why would a high po2 setpoint affect bouyancy when it is just a mix setting rather than total volume setting, and you only have 1-2 breaths on your counterlung anyway?
