battles2a5:I think I saw a similar video w/ Jacque Cousteau's grandson. They were freediving with whites and catching rides on them. As much as I would love to trust the animals that much and freedive with them, I think I'll pass. Cool vid though
Jacques Cousteau's son, Jean-Michel, free dove with and rode on the dorsal fin of a great white about 7-8 years ago. I believe he was with Andre Hartman. Jean-Michel's son Fabien did a "documentary" on great whites that aired on CBS a year or two ago. I believe some of his group free or SCUBA dove outside cages with the GWS's off Guadalupe. They were there while we were doing some scientific work about 2 1/2 years ago.

They had one show up on a shark dive here a few years back and the owner of the operation got into the water with it. Whites are unusual for Hawaii. Here is a link to the operations web site, theire story of the encounter, and the pics they took of it:
