Local dealer charged my wife $90.00 to replace a battery and O-ring in two computers. These "puck" type computers seem to be difficult to close so I normally have the local dealer do it. Previously the charge was around $10 each but a new owner has taken over. Did we get hosed?

Wait whaaat! So 2 services and you pay for the whole thing almost!?

I replace the batteries (2450s) in my puck computers. I have to take care of the thin o-ring - no pinches when putting back on. Getting the cover off is a bit of a pain. - I have to pry it off carefully. I have done this for 20+ years on various button battery computers. $90 is too much for two (or even one for $45) IMO.

Nice, I have replaced the batteries before, got a little hamfisted and broke a screw. Was disappointed about that and a loss for no good reason, that said I superglued it together and it still works as a spare computer, only used it once though, not sure I trust it and I have better computer options now.

Maybe don’t delete everything for the next person wondering about the cost 🤷🏽‍♀️

Or just ask for the thread to be closed for replies

That is wild!

Never used a "puck" but have used some that are probably similar. Oceanic VT4.1 and Oceanic Veo.

For sure, they are a bit harder to replace than the battery in my Perdix, but $90 to change it seems like robbery. Even the "kit" that some of the DC manufacturers sell are a ripoff. A battery and o-ring for $20-$30, possibly more is ridiculous.

$10 is reasonable. $90 is nuts.
