I have an Aqua Lung dive knife that goes into the integrated sheath on my Aqua Lung BCD. I loosely call it a knife because it doesn't really cut, and it takes some effort to use, so I want something better. What tool is better for making a quick cut underwater? A line cutter or trauma shears? Or something else? If trauma shears, I assume it needs to be marine grade that doesn't rust and is easy to use. What do you use? I don't want to spend much on this, $30 or less.

TIA!

When I am diving for fun I carry one ceramic line cutter on my inflator hose, it is held on with a couple zip ties, never had an issue accessing it. I also carry a spiderco salt stretch 2 XL. It’s just a folding knife but is made to be used in saltwater, 1.5 years no issues so far. I tied a bolt snap and hang it off my right D-Ring, with a bungee to hold it to the strap, much like DIR with backup light. Working I also carry shears and a trilobite on each thigh of my Drysuit. Never had an issue with rust, but I only work in freshwater lakes and rivers. YMMV

Thanks for all the suggestions. I got a pair of SeaSnips with a pouch. The care instructions say to wash with fresh water and dry and use a general lubricating grease. Would that be something like WD-40? Or what would you recommend? I have silicone grease for my camera and lights. Could I use that?

And does it get done after every dive trip or more frequently, like every day of diving?
