Fire Dart Fish (Nemateleotris Magnifica)

Fire Dart Fish (Nemateleotris Magnifica) Fire dart fish is in Family Microdesnidae. The character is similar to blenny is Family Blenniidae and goby in Family Gobiidae. However, blenny has thin fin like a line, where as dart fish fin is larger, although not as thick in cup shape like goby. Goby usually has bulging eyes on the top of the head because they live in the hole all the time. Dart fish likes to come out of the hole to swim above the floor.

Fire dart fish is very colorful until it is afraid that he can be caught for the aquarium. Luckily, it is not easy to keep him. So, he is not popular among the aquarium list. In the sea, they live together in a couple, guarding each other against danger. Although dart fish lives in a hole like goby, they do not live with alpheus shrimp.

Fire dart fish usually lives on the sand floor off the reef where water is rather deep. So, if we want to see him we have to go SCUBA diving only. In the Thai Sea, we can often find them at Similan Islands. Very little can be found in other places. Those who have an opportunity to go diving in Similan please do not forget to look on the sand floor. You may see them. Lastly, this does not have anything to do with fire dart fish at all. But I would like to appeal to all of you who love sea fish that you convince people around you to conserve our marine resources. Sea aquarium keepers please stop your activity because those animals are more adapted to environment in the sea. Shark fin eaters please moderate your consumption, or stop it. There are many more things to eat without being harmful to the environment.
