Pretty soon it is time for me to head down south for my training. Obviously I will be bringing the revo micro.

My plan is the revo is my overhead carry on, I was thinking wear it like a backpack. Question is how do you guys pack the unit for the trip?

I know a couple people who use the "backpack method" but I never have. I either check it in a Pelican case or I carry it on in a wheelie luggage.

The wheelie I use is sized for Int'l travel. Obviously, with the unit inside, it is overweight but nobody knows. I have to remove the top bar and the wing.

The Pelican fits the unit "as-is" although I take off the computers before I check it.

Revo mini will fit under the seat in front of you, but it will be tight. I usually wear mine on a carryon, not as my personal item.

I've done both, prefer the carry on. I get a cheap backpack rain cover off Amazon, Inflator and MAV come off the shoulders and go across the top under the rain cover. I've shipped tanks ahead to be filled and ready to go when I get there, this was domestic and saved a day of getting them filled. Show up, pick up the tanks, go dive. On the way home I emptied the tanks and removed the valves, put them back on the rEvo as part of the carry on.

I upgraded the seat to be sure I was on the plane early enough to get an overhead bin. I would even check what planes were used on what legs and what overhead bin space they have. Give yourself extra time through security, they will pull it aside and look at it. I do call it scuba gear, advanced, new style. When discussing the scrubber, I just call it a filter. Filters out the CO2. Keep it very simple, but still accurate to the questions asked.

I fully expect my carry on and personal items to be searched. I'm just going to tell them ahead of time.

Checking isn't really an option this trip as space is going to be a premium. I need to bring both drysuits, both undergarments etc.....

So you guys leave it pretty much together then not really taking anything off.

I will usually pull the loop and cap the openings, then I can shove it under a seat and put my feet on it without worry.

What do you use for caps?

I don't remember what size the ports are on a revo, but you can measure and go from here.
Those and a couple of zip ties, you are good to go.

If you want to pay for rEvo original equipment, the caps will run you $80 - part R582. Come with o-rings and are very snug.
