Apparently, there is a new Russian Military wreck that is within Tech diving limits. According to Russian Military the crew was removed before the sinking so it should not be considered a war grave. There are rumors of Nuclear weapons on board and an 8 ship salvage operation is currently underway at the wreck site.

The 612' Moskva is the largest ship sunk in battle since WWII. The Argentine Navy Cruiser General Belgrano sunk in the 1982 Falkands Islands war by the UK Navy is 4' shorter, but had a much larger loss of life.

The depth seems to be 56 Meters to the bottom.

Here are the coordinates:

44°56' N 31°44' E

50-60 meters under the water. (Info by Defense Express)

Defense Express must not read charts well. The depth is in fathoms. About double a meter.

If the the Russians can't refloat it, I'd expect they'd strip what they can of "stuff that they don't want to admit to" (that would leave evidence - nukes) and then blow it to pieces to protect its secrets.

That's too bad. It would have been very interesting, if it were possible. An Epic military wreck dive.

I don't beleive they are trying to refloat it, but instead to recover certain equipment from it since they know it will fall into enemy hands soon. The UK just donated 100 Harpoon missiles, the U.S. also donated some. The 110 year old salvage ship and the 7 other support ships are anchored there and are sitting ducks. Wouldn't it be great if the Ukraines did a follow on attack on the salvage fleet.

The Russians say the Moskva sank from an ammunition fire and nothing to do with Neptune missiles fired by Ukraine, but their entire fleet is now much further out of sea. The Turkish Gov't is not allowing anymore Russian vessels into the Black Sea.

It would be interesting to know if the USS Jimmy Carter already has visited.
