Nikonos Camera Values

I am thinking of getting rid of all my Nikonos film camera stuff I collected over the last 40 years. I have 2 - Nikonos II bodies with 35mm lenses and a 15mm lens with viewfinder, Ikelite substrobe 150, extension tubes, and all trays and connectors in a Zero aluminum travel case. I also have a Nikonos RS with a 28 mm lens, a pair of SB 103 ( I think) strobes arms and connectors also in a Zero aluminum travel case. The case for the RS needs new foam.

The batteries all charge, not sure of overall condition of batteries. All the bodies work. None of the lenses have flooded. Everything needs the usual maintenance items done. The strobes sync and slave. I haven't used this stuff in several years, digital has killed the film camera.

Any ideas what this stuff may be worth?

Donate them to a museum

I still have a Nikon F3 with a sports viewfinder in a Tussey Housing as well as a Nikonos II which was my first UW camera.

Sold my two Nik Vs when I moved over to housings in the late 90s

The 28mm and 15mm lens may have some value, the rest, except to a collector, has no value. Put it all on eBay.

1. Jolly Old St Nikonos (heh, heh) brought me a Nikonos III ***camera body (only)*** this year for Christmas. (From KEH, in "E+" condition, for ~$145.) I have been reluctant to dive my old Nikonos V for fear of flooding of it, since locating a shop that will perform routine service (to replace its internal technician-serviceable O-rings) is difficult. I am extremely excited by my Christmas present, and I can't wait to try it out in the water. For those who do not know, the III is the last of the all-manual (no internal electronics!!) Nikonos cameras. It theoretically can survive being flooded--especially when diving fresh water.

My darkroom photography hobby (which includes developing B&W film and color slides and enlarging and printing silver prints) goes WAY back. I still love film and slides!!

2. In the late 1990's, when Nikon was selling the SB 105, they issued a service recall for the SB 103 (I can't recall the underlying issue) and offered to replace it (the 103) with the 105 for free.

3. The old (original?) 15mm UW Nikkor effectively appears smaller than the "new" 15mm UW Nikkor. It (the old lens) is a retrofocus (?) lens and, so, sits deeper into the Nikonos camera body than the new lens. I understand that it (the old lens) is sharper (!!) than the new lens and less prone to flare. However, built for the old non-electronic Nikonos cameras, it won't work correctly with the new Nikonos IV-A and V cameras (I understand). If I didn't already own a new 15, I would purchase an old 15. There is certainly a market for your old 15!

They blew up! I think the battery compartment was reworked in the 105 to keep it from doing that if the batteries starting leaking.

I remember buying a old, very well used 103 for about $25 (not even sure if it worked anymore), then turning around and getting a brand new 105 on recall. Still have the 105, and it still works!
