Unlimited air supply can lead to unawaredly accrued deco
Limited by the battery/fuel supply. I'd bet the diver would rather be bent than drowned.

"Police received a report that the a man had gone missing in the sea off Tung Ping Chau Pier at 10.53pm last night"

Since it's easy to find a hookah Diver at the end of their hose, I'd say something other than the hookah not performing was the issue, especially since there was no mention of equipment failure.

I always viewed "hookah" as a surface air supply with an umbilical with only one hose, regardless of the air source. Add another element to the umbilical like communications, pneumofathometer, hot water, or CCTV and it becomes surface-supplied in commercial diving jargon.

I believe that hookah became part of the English-speaking diving lexicon because the port on early double hose regulators were called a Hookah connection.

maybe that's why he drowned, he was separated from his hookah hose.

And the term kept alive for the past 50 or 60 years by Brownies Third Lung.
