On Tuesday morning, August 10th, I lost my Shearwater Perdix AI, dive computer. It was lost in approx 85’ of water, north of Zeiglers Zoo. It has my initials, JS, on it. If anyone finds it, please let me know. It should be showing a substantial decompression time on it :)

I should have posted this sooner, but I was a little embarrassed, and figured it was a long shot, so didn’t bother. This was completely my fault, not due to strap breaking or slipping off. I am planing to purchase a replacement this weekend, and hoping the dive shop that I purchased it from, shows me some mercy and sells me a replacement near cost. Thanks!

I was hoping no one would ask - thanks for asking :)

I have a velcro strap on my bc, that I usually use to hold my mask in between repetitive dives. The velcro is crappy to the point my mask has fallen off. I was putting on my wetsuit, and wrapped the velcro strap around my dive computer wrist band. Unfortunately, I forgot to put my dive computer on my wrist after on my wetsuit. I doned my gear, and rolled back off the boat. As I was heading down, I realized I didn’t have my dive computer on my wrist. I figured I left it on the boat, so I did the dive using my backup computer. Unfortunately it probably fell off my BC as soon as I hit the water. It hurt to lose such an expensive dive computer, but I will buy a new one this weekend, and lesson learned!

Ouch!!! Hope it miraculously turns up but I agree, quite a long shot. If I happen to see anyone post about finding it on FB, I’ll be sure and ping you.

Nothing to be embarrassed about. Not like you put your mask on your forehead or used split fins.

Sorry to hear that. Crap happens unfortunately and Neptune absolutely loves shiny stuff to adorn his locker.

A small tip... Use a double-ender clipped to your chest D-ring and clip stuff like your mask & computer there. If you did jump in, it won't fall off.

Worked well with my car keys! Was at 35m/120' for about 15 mins and noticed them dangling. Arrrgghhh I thought; they're done for, so may as well complete the dive. Did about 1h30 and surfaced thinking of the ten tons of grief facing me where the car won't work...

Got to the car park and... it worked! Pressed the button and all was fine, car unlocked and I drove home. +1 for Subaru!

I now have a couple of "Remove before flight" tags which I clip on in case I've not completed something.

The mask on my far head was resolved many years ago when I got certified by an instructor fresh out of the navy. He hit my mask off my forehead so hard it flew at least 30 feet in the pool.

Thanks Jim! :)

Hey, Jeff, just thought about this and you might want to drop a note/email to Todd Bailey. He is an outstanding 6 pack charter specializing in 3 tank hunting trips and based out of Lake Park Marina in WPB(same marina as Pura Vida). He regularly dives that area just outside of the Princess Anne 85 to 95 deep which I think is close by the PA and his divers spread out to cover alot of that ground. We just call that place the Zoo and it's been well marked for over 30 years even in Ned Deloach's guide book 'Underwater Florida'. You can find Aquahunters' page on FB /Web under ' Aquahunter Dive and Fish Charter '. He's a straight up guy, excellent captain and he'd tell you if any of his customers found it.
