Hello Hive Mind,
New diver here, on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Got my OW last Sept, 11 days before my 59th birthday. (bucket list engaged) and my AOW last November. I had 40 logged dives in before I started my AOW, and in a couple of hours, I will be heading out for my 142 dive. I have been diving 2-4 times a week since I started, between 11 different shore dive sites and 1 boat dive.
The next cert on my radar is a solo / self reliant, although, Nav, Deep, and Wreck certs also sit high on the list. Still working on my frog kick, and back finning flusters me to no end. Once I get better at that, I will start to carry my camera. Thanks for the add, although I have been using this board as an info source since last year.

Howdy and Welcome! from Texas. I am jealous that you live in such a beautiful place! I too finally became certified in my 50s, but it looks like you are racking up dives with a vengeance! Congrats! Where have you been diving? Near home? Tropical? Cheers!

Welcome to Scubaboard!

Have you got Rescue Cert. yet?

All my diving except one dive so far has been shore diving on the south end of Vancouver Island, and the one was a boat dive here. I have a ton of shore diving, all within a 30 min or less drive from my house. All the dives are drysuit dives in water, between 7C-11C.(45F-52F).

Greetings back from Bonaire. You are starting out on the right track and you have some beautiful diving up there.

Welcome Mike.

A man with a plan! Great!

All the very best!

Rose.

Welcome to SB--lots of helpful info and guidance here.

Congratulations on your accomplishments in scuba diving; and credit to you for setting new goals.

BC has fabulous diving: God's Pocket (30 minute+ ride out of Port Hardy) is gorgeous.

Hmmm .... no. To be honest, I do not know if I want to take rescue. Me learning to dive is totally for selfish reasons.

I wouldn't discount rescue for that reason. Just FYI rescue is just as much about rescuing yourself and understanding what could go wrong as it is about how to save someone else. That and Fundies (Fundamentals of Diving from DIR) were the two best courses I ever did - and most of my diving is solo.
