Hi Everyone, just looking for info from this past week on the Aggressor IV Belize. I'm heading out next Saturday and was wondering how the Covid test worked out prior to leaving Belize back to the States.

I'm on the BA III, heading out on Saturday, so I'm curious too.

I just returned from Roatan. Assuming that all the Aggressor's may have the same protocol in progress, it was easier to test than in the US. The lab tech came to the boat within an hour after docking on Friday. Conducted the test on the dive deck. While waiting for results we continued rinsing gear, packing, etc. Test results were verbally given within the next hour. I'm guessing it was emailed to the Aggressor because we received a hard copy that evening. Had to have it at airport to get ticket. Although we were sure we were all negative, there still was that apprehension of even a false-positive screwing up your return. I wonder if all LOB are doing that. The Aqua Cat is tested at the dock, too.
I envision a positive test will result in being tied up, mouth duct taped, burlap bag over your head and thrown into an unmarked van. Never to be seen from again. Make sure your credit card has enough room just in case you have to be quarantined. Don't know how long after a false-positive can be corrected but even a couple of days will take a huge chunk out of your planned budget.

Thanks Starzz, getting the exit test was my main concern so I can totally understand the apprehension. I really appreciate the information. I called Aggressor on Monday and was told there was no problems with the onboard testing which is also good news. Thanks Again.

Hi! I hope it's appropriate to ask my questions here. Since you've just been on the Aggressor IV recently, wondering if the covid testing went as smoothly as others indicated? My husband and I will be on the April 24 departure, so I'm hoping things are still running smoothly.

Also, I have a couple of (probably silly) questions. This will be our first liveaboard trip and I've read different info for different vessels.

First, I have heavy duty plastic-coated mesh bags that we use to carry our gear to and from the dive boats/locations. Can I leave these at home or will I need these to store our gear overnight? (I guess what I'm asking is will the crew expect me to hand them a bag of gear for storage or is there a place where we store our own gear...or does it just stay set up the whole time. I'm trying to minimize what I pack.)

Second, do I need to pack towels? I see that some liveaboards provide deck/after-dive towels and others do not.

Hope you had a great trip!

No gear bags necessary. You set your gear up at your chosen (by you) station, and it stays there for the duration. Wetsuits hang on a rod in the middle of the dive deck. I took my bag to the cabin and carried my stuff to my tank in pieces - like, mount bc on tank. Go back and get reg. Mount on tank. Go back and get fins to the dive platform. Go back and get computers, mask etc and put in cubbie under the bench.

Second, do I need to pack towels? I see that some liveaboards provide deck/after-dive towels and others do not.

They provide towels in the bathrooms and bath cloths, ask when you want clean ones. Pre-covid they provided an individual numbered towel on the dive deck.

Hope you had a great trip!

Here's a link to some photos I took of the interior of the boat. Inside are links to DrRich2's trip reports and research. Be sure to read them - he writes the best and most complete reports out there.

You don’t need your mesh bags, gear stays set up the whole trip. You’ll have your own private bin of some sort to store your small stuff under your seat. There will be places with hangers to hang your suit to dry. Often the very first thing you will do when stepping on the boat is set up gear. Occasionally bags are useful, say to collect gear you have drying on the top deck on the last day, but definitely not necessary.

No need to bring towels.

Thanks so much. That's very helpful. I might pick up some lighter weight mesh bags then. Ours are quite bulky...great for shore or boat day excursions. I'd like to limit the amount of luggage we take.

Just bring a good attitude and your gear. The crew will take care of everything else. There is a Know Before You Go document that you should read. It will lay everything out for you.
