As a european, i am wondering. Is it not arranged in the whole of europe that you get a 2-year guarantee after buying? This is a legal requirement as far as i know (had to search it a bit though)

Well, yeah, but they are in Poland. I'm sure it's a bit more "civilized" than my native Ukraine but I wouldn't hold my breath on getting any refunds from any EU legalese.

I still would try, EU=EU, poland or not. You even have enough evidence for a civil case in my opinion, would not go that way for 600€ tho. Poland is not the 'less structured' country it was 10 years ago.

If only there was some company out there in the universe that made dive computers and had a good reputation for service...
There are many many companies that make computers , are they all bad or which company are you referring to?

I don't understand why people skimp on dive gear like a dive computer. If you get a good one it will last for years.

I paid A$1,215 for my Shearwater Perdix AI. I have done over 400 dives with it. That works out to be around $3 per dive (so far). Cheaper than an air fill. I expect to do many more dives with it so the per dive price just keeps getting cheaper.
You dive often
You have $1200 to spend on one single item
Many don’t dive often but want to buy not rent.
Many have a budget like me and don’t own $1000 plus USD regulators, BCD , computers etc.
My budget Aqualung reg, Mares BCD and Oceanic computer work fine. So no cost doesn’t always equal better quality. Dive computers are way overpriced compared to things like laptops smart phones and tablets that do so much more

Your phone might claim to be “water resistant” to some depth but we all know that’s a lie. A dive computer has to be the real deal though, making even a very modest computer really reliable in high pressure salt water takes a bit of doing. I’ve had some bad luck with Plegatic products especially after a battery change and am very happy with my Perdix, and I’m as blue collar as it gets. A big colour screen, intuitive software, and a compass that actually works are worth a few extra bucks. As always the used market is the budget-minded divers friend and the computer is not safety critical if you’re not doing serious deco.

Jonn, Apple has the Apple Watch ultra with a dive computer function but small screen. If phones can run dive computers software, I’d like an underwater arm mount housing housing that will hold a big iPhone or android that have bigger screens then all dive computers I’ve seen. We have the expensive great powerful phones we use for everything else. I don’t know if that’s as effective as a Shearwater but it makes sense.

housing that will hold a big iPhone
A decade ago there was “iGills”, an underwater housing for your then-modern iPhone 3G. It had its own pressure sensor and hard buttons powered through the 30-pin iPhone jack. Seemed to work fine but notably failed to take the diving world by storm. The case would need to closely fit the phone putting the company on an annual update treadmill but that’s acceptable. A cheap computer / camera / locator beacon that mostly leverages the excellent hardware you already own seems like an idea with legs to me too but the market has spoken.
