Keep in mind that companies measure and claim the lumen output of their lights differently. So one company's 1000 lumen light might be much brighter than another company's. I like the DGX 600, I use it as a back up cave light, and even though it only claims 600 lumens, it would certainly be bright enough for me as a recreational light. It only has a one hour burn time, but that's conservative and it's very simple to switch batteries between dives.

Big blue lights are very popular, maybe because they claim performance similar to canister lights that costs 3 times as much. I know some sidemount divers in MX that use them, and they're ok. I just would not trust their lumen rating.

Thanks for all your advice. I have had a talk with some divers back here as well and finally chose the Mares Eos 20RZ. It was about a tenner more expensive than the 15RZ so that was a no-brainer. I'll post a review on that light here.

I hope not the canister light, as its design, one blew up being charged and almost killed a guy.
