I'm a Fish!
I was in Thailand solo for a month during the Coronavirus outbreak in Feb/Mar 2020. China had a lockdown going on and the crowds were smaller than normal. During my time in Phi Phi and Koh Tao, I would often be the only fun diver among the group while the others were going through their open water and other courses. I didn't travel with any gear as I was coming straight from work across the globe to Thailand.

The Scuba diving was pretty good in Phi Phi and Koh Tao and kiteboarding was good for a few days in Phuket at Kitezone. During my time, Koh Tao had the best viz (20m+). Great food was consumed, tons of alcohol bought throughout, met some pretty cool people along the journey. I didn't see a big panic while I was cruising around the country, but did notice hotels shut down and various places to eat closed until further notice. Good luck to all those traveling through. I kept up with multivitamins and ate pretty healthy to keep my immunes up. So far so good. Check out the video of how awesome Thailand is during this outbreak.

(Filmed primarily with the GoPro 8)

Sadly those of us who are still here are not allowed to dive anymore :-(

Extra time for the reef to recover from human interference.
With no dive boat around the fishermen would have no restriction on their catches?

Yes, a real pity. I am dying to go, it must be excellent noe with all the reefs really quiet without any divers (just some fishermen probably).
I can only imagine how fabulous it will be out there the first day back...honestly, part of the reason I wanted to stay!

Where are you?
Koh Lanta. Managed to get in 6 or 7 dives before the shops closed here. Decided it would be a good place to hunker down but the last 2 days have been utter chaos w the provincial govt making up new rules about tourists...over a holiday weekend. Fingers crossed it will settle this week. Hope all is well up by you, news keeps saying loads of cases in Phuket. :-/

Nearly exclusively in Patong, they shut down entertainment there too late. Everywhere else ok, just the occasional infection, but hardly any.

I presume hotel closures when you refer to new rules?
