Hello Shearwater:

Any idea if/when Shearwater will release a software update to make the stopwatch function operate as described in the owner's manual (page 55)? Manual states that when you hit the reset button, the stopwatch resets to zero and then restarts immediately without additional inputs. However, the stopwatch resets to zero but stops and does not restart. Diver must hit start again to restart the stopwatch.

I've had my Teric for over a year now and thought that the changer in the timer function would have been implemented by now. My Perdix does have a running stopwatch and immediately resumes after resetting it to zero. Yes, it's a small thing but it makes a difference and creates uniformity in the function across my two dive computers.

Thank you,
Ouvea

Only in gauge mode yeah?

I have used my Perdix in the Gauge and OC/Tech modes. Both have the running resettable stop watch. The stop watch functions identically in both modes. After starting, if you confirm "reset," the stop watch will go back to zero and immediately start counting up again. I do not need to confirm "start" again on my Perdix, which I must do with the Teric.

The Teric provides the stopwatch function for OC/Tech and Gauge modes as well. Have used it in both modes. Unfortunately, the stopwatch won't restart again after confirming reset.

I forget if I enabled this but I have it on the right most column on the second row (while in OC Tech Mode). When you're diving, tap the left piezo button until you see "Start Timer." Press it and the timer will start counting time upward. Press the left piezo button again until you see either Stop Timer or Reset Timer. If you confirm Reset Timer then the timer resets to zero and restart.

This Timer funciton is called Stopwatch on the Teric. On the Teric, Timer is a countdown function.

Maybe you should be pressing a different button?

on a normal stopwatch, there is lap (similar to what you want) and start/stop (similar to what you are describing)

I assume there's a reason SW designed it to work the way noted in the OP. SW are clear in the manual the way it would work too.

@Ouvea, aside from consistency between the Perdix and the Teric, is there a reason why it's designed like this? (I guess it's a non-Rec diving reason .... but I'm not a Tec diver).

I don't know why Shearwater changed the function behavior from the Perdix and the Teric. I was told by both the dealer and Shearwater that the function would be changed to confirm with the description stated in the owner's manual at a later date. I've been waiting for over a year now and did read the manual prior to purchase to verify its function.

I use the stopwatch during my ascent to time my stops at the various stages of my deco profile. I also use it to monitor my time at a specific depth when I'm doing multi level profiles.
