STOLEN SCUBA GEAR!

(1) Faber FX100 Steel High Pressure Scuba Tank, 3442 psi
SERIAL #:
3582417 or 3605591 (I had 2 tanks, only one was stolen. I don't have the other tank in front of me to confirm it's serial # (it's a HP steel 117cf).
- “Zinc” metal finish, not painted (when originally purchased).
- May have the numbers, “1437” stenciled on it, and may also have a “Mass Diving” of Natick,
MA inspection sticker on it
- Condition: used, good.
- May have a hot pink, silicone dust cap on it
- Out of VIP and Hydro at the time of the theft, which would have been within the last 12-15 months, approx.
  • Older Aqua Lung Titan 1st Stage, black dust cap.
(previously rental equipment from Mass Diving, Natick, MA). Condition: used & may show some normal wear.

  • 2nd Stage, Primary Regulator: Hollis 221, color: Black. Condition: used, very good.

  • Two of my LP hoses were black & were braided nylon. One was 36”, the other was 27”.

  • HP rubber hose with a quick connect fitting on the end of it, specifically for use with Suunto Cobra computers. Condition: used, good (my computer was luckily NOT stolen). :yeahbaby:
  • One or several of the 2nd stage hoses may have pink or yellow fluorescent (plastic) spiral "wrap" around them
  • Pinnacle 3mm Women's vest, Size X-Large. Condition: used, very good.

  • BARE Elastic Boot – Size 10. Condition: used, very good.

  • Hot pink octopus 'necklace' (holder). Silicone. Condition: used, very good.

  • Neosport 3/2 mm neoprene women's jumpsuit. Size: 2X – Large 14, colors: black/purple. Condition: used, good.

  • Neosport UNISEX Lycra/Spandex skinsuit, Black/Purple, X-Large. Condition: used, good.

  • BARE 7mm Women's Sport Step-In Jacket, Size 16, Condition: used, good.

  • Women's 5mm wetsuit, Size 2X (may be by Neosport, I forget). Condition: used, good. Black with blue accents. Silver on the inside.

  • Long, black mesh gear bag, backpack style. Brand: Armor. The brand's logo is an old fashioned diving helmet, and is printed on the front of the bag, on a pocket. Condition: Used, excellent. Sadly, out of everything, this (and my tank) is the item I'm most upset about losing. I loved that bag & they aren't cheap.

    * There may be some other gear that was taken from my home as well that I haven't yet identified, but the above items I am certain of. If you purchased any of this stuff online (used), used from someone, or from a pawn shop, please contact me. Even if you are unsure whether your item is definitely one of my stolen items, but it matches my descriptions above, I'd still be interested in knowing who you purchased it from & approximately when; you never know if the person/place from whom you purchased it will lead me to confirm the thief’s identity. My gear was stored in a room of my house that I don't go into much, and is normally unlocked. Up to a year may have passed from when it was taken to when I discovered that it was missing. I had a very small handful of contractors working in/on my house over the last 12 months, but suspect one individual in particular. Unfortunately I do not (yet) have any concrete evidence to provide the police with. I am looking only for a *confirmation* that this individual sold one or all of the items listed above either to a pawn shop, or even to someone they came in contact with, within the boating/marine community. Although people do sell stolen goods on Craigslist and Ebay, a North Shore pawn shop is most likely the method of sale in this case. Many pawnshops do also list items for sale on Craigslist and Ebay, so that's a possibility as well. I am not interested in buying my gear back from someone, but only to bring the thief to justice, and more importantly, save other homeowners from being robbed, since the suspect is currently working as a residential tradesman throughout New England. If you happen to be familiar with any Massachusetts North Shore pawn shops & know which ones might sell stuff like that (some are gold & jewelry only), please reach out to me & let me know so I can narrow my search. I've already called several. One pawn shop I called said they'd "check their database" if I sent them an email listing the gear, but they never called me back. Also, fire departments have fill stations; if anyone out there is a firefighter or has family who they can ask, I'm curious to know how easy it might be for someone (who somehow has access) to get a few free fills here and there...which possibly avoids having to get produce a C-card, or have a dive shop log a serial #. I don't know how all that works at fire departments.

Thank You Very Much for taking the time to read this!!

I appreciate you loss...As an ex president stated " I feel your pain"

Over the past 20 yeas I have had considerable items stolen from my home and now in Baja California Mexico, Toronto Canada and in SoCal. My losses were from guest in my home. Never to be recovered

In order for others to avoid loss could you take the time to describe how your equipment was secured ?
Where was it in your home ?

I am indeed sorry for your loss - I hope it is recovered

Sam Miller, 111

Thank you for the kind words, Sam :)

As far as where it was located & how it was secured, all that info. is in the bottom of my post; it was in an unlocked room in my house. I was working a lot of hours at the time, and not diving, so I didn't venture into that room much; it was being used as a storage space (not a "living area" like your bedroom, dining room, etc). For people to avoid having valuables stolen by contractors, be in the house at all times when they are in your home, and/or store your valuables in a locked location (like a locked closet or something along those lines). Kinda common sense, but I made assumptions about this person that, clearly, I shouldn't have....also, it goes without saying, trust no one who isn't a close friend or close family member. This person was a "friend of a friend," and had done some unsolicited favors for me (and was a likeable person, in general), so I didn't think I had to worry about him. Other than my gear & a few tools, there wasn't anything else of value that he had access to.

I'll keep my eyes open, sorry to hear that happened.

Although it’s been awhile you could check your local pawn shops. Thieves almost always turn stuff into cash and pawn shops are the best place to do so. Even if a pawn shop may have already sold most of your stuff, maybe there is something left that nobody bought in which case you can call the police. If someone pawns something that is not truly theirs it is called False Verification of Ownership here in FL. I don’t know about MA but in FL it is a second degree felony. Again, I don’t know about MA but here in FL police have a pawn brokers database that a name can be run through, it will show all the pawn transactions that person has done. It’s a great way to bust thieves. Good luck........

Thank you, I appreciate that I'll pursue our area's pawn shops then!

Covered by your HO policy. Pay your All Perils deductible and go buy brand new gear.

Perhaps a long shot, but have you checked nearby pawn shops?
