Do you know the difference? I assume not otherwise you would not ask such an inane question.If you don’t understand the difference between yoke and DIN, You probably don’t understand the concept of no-fly times either.

Try to keep up. My "inane" (as you insultingly put it) question was not "What is a Din regulator". I was asking why a diver with a Din regulator would have an issue using a tank with an adapter.

That much being said, your post raises another question. What do recommended preflight surface intervals have to do with Din vs Yoke regs? Do divers with Din regulators need more or less of an interval?

What's the problem with a Din-Yoke Adapter?

They are prone to failure/leaks and add extra weight. It also puts the regulator that much closer to the body/head and for us vertically challenged it can mean the regulator impedes head movement. And of course it negates all benefits of a DIN connection. I dislike adaptors enough that I have a DIN first stage for my DIN tanks and a yoke for travel.

Thank you for the excellent trip report, I am really anticipating our trip later this year! The last time we were there was a couple of years ago, before the recent renovations. How did you like the new dining room and did you have a chance to check out the new photo shop?

Were there any issues with sargassum build-up around the resort - or out on the reefs? When you took the day trip over to Brac did you have a chance to visit that resort?

No issues with Sargassum at the resort. Dining room and lobby are quite beautiful. I have no idea what they looked like previously but they’re awesome now.

We ate lunch at CBBR. Sargassum stunk to high heaven. Tons rotting on the beach. Preferred facilities and dining room at LCBR.

Can you expand on this a bit please? I’ve been researching CBBR for this time next year, or maybe October. I’ve never been, so a few questions:
1) Is the smell obvious at the resort? I’m assuming they clear it from the beach area I see in the pictures.
2) Or is the smell bad on the whole island?
3) Does LCBR have no sargassum?

I know that the Cayman government had completed a major sargassum clean-up campaign this summer but very recently, after Hurricane Dorian had caused havoc in other areas of the Caribbean, the West Bay area of Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac got hit with another massive pile-up of sargassum, see the link below.

I imagine that they will also try to clean-up this latest influx of sargassum but I don't know how long it will take. I'm just hoping that it will all be gone when we go to GC and LC later this year!

This has been a terrible year for sargassum all across the Caribbean and on the Mexican and Central American coasts and you never know where and when it will hit next.

Apparently they can’t simply rake it up at CBBR; we were “told” that there were regulations against.

Remember the temp was upper 90s when we were there.

I know that there are concerns about sargassum removal and turtle nesting areas, but I don't know why there would be special rules for Brac but not the other Cayman islands?

Just much more sargassum at Brac. No idea why.
