I saw this video and something does not make sense to me: I thought SPG Hoses only had a small hole to prevent massive leaks like in this video

For example in the link below you can see that the HP connection is very tiny to prevent massive leaks

High Pressure SPG Hose

So what happened in this video ?

Yes high pressure hoses have a very thin channel for the gas to travel because that's all that's needed to measure pressure as it's not designed to continuously supply gas. The leak doesn't look all that bad as far as the amount of gas coming out, all things considered.

It's not really a massive leak compared to a LP port leak! These are:

This video shows the difference between a HP vs LP failure - pretty dramatic!

So the most likely explanation is that the diver panicked when his SPG failed and when he claimed that the third breath he had after the failure was water, it was probably the diver panicking ?

No safe octopus seconds?

I could see that shaking it didn't work. Ha
Wonder if at any point he tried to twist it.

According to the person who suffered the casualty his hose separated from the SPG (he did not specify if it unscrewed or if it broke at the metal swage) he also specified that he suffered a regulator failure at the same time. Here is a longer version of the same video with details in the video description if viewed on youtube:

Not sure - but the SPG leak would not have left him out of air for quite a while - that’s for sure!

Geez - what’s the probability of an SPG and Reg failing at the same time? The SPG leak is not a critical emergency, but the reg failure sure is! This incident does show the value of having a buddy nearby, though!
