Hi,
planning a 3-week dive trip from mid-August. I read that Ticao Island is not affect by the Habagat in August/September and conditions are great for diving.

What other areas offer good diving condtions in August/September?

Best regards,

Liberty

PS: I usually dived in the Philippines around Christmas or in March/April, and mostly in Leyte, Negros, Cebu etc.

I dive all around cebu and bohol but BY far the most fun diving ive ever had anywhere was the wreck diving in Coron. Hands down my favorite thing. I did 4 wrecks in two days a couple months ago. You do penetration dives through all the wrecks which there are about 10 of. All japanese ships sunk during world war 2. most are about 75 ft to 100 ft and one the Irako is I believe about 120 but we didnt get to that one.

Most dive ops will do one DM per two divers. I suggest a dive op that rents larger tanks, there are only two that I know of. Reggae dive center which I used and Corto dive center which is normally booked a week in advance. both have AL100 tanks which didnt really throw off my boyancy any from the AL80s. Its just a fatter tank and well worth the extra 25% more air.

You can do three dives per day , two wrecks then a shallow reef.

None of the wrecks are able to be silted out except the deep Irako wreck so are not dangerous per se but you will need to be AOW equivalent certified or have a deep dive cert.

again HIGHLY recommend coron wrecks over other locations. beats any drift dive by a hundred fold and access is easy as all wrecks were sunk in the same bay area. which is a huge bay looks more like open ocean surrounded by many islands.

ive dove bohol and moalboal on cebu ....pescador island dives are awesome with the largest concentration of fish and sealife ive ever seen huge schools of giant barracuda etc.

done the marine preserves off lapu lapu cebu Nalusuan hulutungan and they were oook....

id suggest coron top of list

malapascua at top of cebu for thresher shark dives and el gato island

moalboal for pescador island and billions of frogfish of all shapes and colors

after that ive heard apo island at the south end of cebu is great too and a ferry ride from cebu to dumaguete island then apo is right there....

some people say puerto galera but thats kind of a single destination area whereas cebu you can hit many island areas nearby. Dont get me wrong eventually im doing puerto galera but ive still got a bucket list of spots to hit around cebu, dumaguete, and more of the Coron wrecks.

edit I see you are from Germany. If you do Moalboal there is a resort called Dolphin house resort which is the best resort in my book for moalboal and the head DM there is german and speaks it obviously.

also on coron i think corto divers is owned by a german so may have german speaking dms as well as filipino.

Not that you need that at all obviously all germans speak english but just for your edification.

Thank you.
I found, that Coron is not for me. I enjoyed diving in the Visayas.
But the question is which places are best in August/September considering the monsoon.
I am considering Romblon or Anilao.

Tagging on here to see if OP learned anything else. I will be visiting in July, considering Anilao, or maybe Puerto Galera.

Anilao is lot easier to get to than Romblon. If the weather is foul then you might get stuck on the island. No such problem for Anilao.

Anilao was fun in May. Lots of macro critters. Not sure what the weather does in Aug/Sept. It is 3 hour drive from Manila. I stayed at Blue Ribbon resort. Really nice and good price.
Dauin is really nice too and you get more variety by going to Apo island. I stayed at Pura Vida, and they had trips going to Apo every few days. Short flight from Manila and an hour transfer to resort.
