(Ha -- I don't think I've posted in years; just came by to see Teric reviews, and what comes up but an obscure question I can help with.)

What you want is to spend a while (and some money) at mycasebuilder.com. (No affiliation, other than they've solved some similar problems for me.) Here's an example I threw together in about 5 minutes for your Teric, Perdix, and some other common equipment:

It's not DIY cheap, but the results come out very nice.
I love it! A pair of dive computers, a glock 29 and 2 magazines. I DO live in Milwaukee!

I bought a pelican case and has some closed cell foam and made my own, but a custom cut one with the ballistic nylon shearwater case would be more refined and lighter for airline travel.

Some additional requests, ideas, and questions ... some are very minor, and in no particular order.

@Shearwater @tcoen, a question: In OC-Rec, can the standard screen's middle two rows be fully customised (excluding NDL)?

Currently in OC Rec, only the lower of the two middle rows can be customized. The upper middle row has the deco (NDL/Deco Stops/Safety Stop) information, and TTS. We do plan on allowing the TTS location to be customizable, for OC Rec mode only. However, the current firmware does not allow the TTS location to be customized. ...

Can I confirm that this post (above) also means that TTS will be able to be moved off the Standard screen in OC Rec mode (aligning with Big mode TTS behaviour)? Reasons/e.g. In OC Rec Big Screen I have NDL and T1 on the middle Info Row. Moving to Standard Layout, it would be intuitive and visually consistent, to move that up a row to the Deco Row. And TTS, from purely a Rec p.o.v. doesn’t add much relative value :)

• new follow on request: A new and easy way to switch between Big and Standard layouts (esp during a dive).

• a faster way (via existing menus) to turn AI/T1 etc off/on pre-post dives. (I think it's ~16 button pushes at the moment). The point immediately below might minimise that. Alternatively, one way to quickly turn it on could be press the Function button immediately after the Owner Info Screen is displayed (the 4 buttons are all initially 'dormant').

* an automated way to turn AI/T1 etc on/off: initially AI is turned on using the (main) method above, and if this 'new auto-AI feature' is additionally enabled, then AI is turned off automatically if the screen is set to 'Off' or Watch Mode is enabled. An added safety feature would be to add a condition that the computer is not registering depth. AI would automatically be turned on again if the user manually enters dive mode (i.e.Menu button from the Off screen or Menu & Function buttons from watch mode). An additional safety check for that would be to have AI auto-on if computer registers depth. AI would need to be turned off post final dive using the normal method above.

• Tank pressure alert. Alert me at x-bar and at y-bar pressure on T1, T2 respectively. Where x are y are user defined input values different than Reserve Pressure. Reasons. Pressure to turn a dive ... or a DM asks let her/him know when you reach 100bar, and also if low on air which they define to be 70bar. (as opposed the diver's Reserve Pressure of say 48bar).

• Dive Time alert (as part of Dive mode, not watch mode - and set as part of dive plan pre dive). Would this be handy?

• Temperature. If the sensor can do it, then have an option add a dp to 0.1deg. Up to a 0.9deg rounding error is large for highly temp sensitive individuals :)

• It would be handy to have the SurfGF value at the end of the dive remain once the dive has finished. Reason: GF99 decays post dive and it’s interesting to know it if it wasn't noted immediately at the end of the dive.

• Info Screen configurations and sequencing (p.16). To build on its existing pre/post dive feature, but also have the ability for the user to select which screens are viewable, and whether they time-out (latter in Standard Mode only). Additionally to have some user-configurable screens. [been EDITED for succinctness]

•Flashlight: to have a mode that flashes the flashlight and also a mode for SOS flashes.

•to have the ability to select which watch face(s) and modes of a face are activatable.

•the alarm testing procedure (p.41) only allow sone test at a time. Could they be tested in sequence (minor gaps, and display which alert is tested) via a single button push? (esp. if these should all be tested occasionally).

•re 'confusing' Alerts setup : top level/main menu versus p.67 - main menu alerts override alerts in Dive Mode even if latter is set later (and are opposite main menu alerts). I'm not sure why this is; I must be overlooking something, but wouldn't it be best to have just one alert menu or specific menus without a 'confusing' master over-ride?

• consider using tap/double-tap (using the watches accelerometer) to perform certain tasks etc. But also be aware that other computers that have this haven't pulled it off reliably and users have reported shutting this feature off.

• compass: when used in the outer ring with a green mark, would it make sense to change that mark's colour to say blue as it reached 90deg+/- and red when it reached the reciprocal? Reason: just to make it easier to navigate without aligning that green dot perfectly to the +/-90 watch face screws or centre mid (when no re-marking). I found this way easier to navigate in Big mode without having it time-out and remarking after the initial heading and fluffing with screens/buttons whilst navigating ....

• idea not fully thought out: Owner info on watch 'locked' on watch. (tied via SW cloud to the watch (Serial #) the first time it's connected, and a way to 'release' it if watch is sold).

Future Features :
• GPS with Serial # - ala 'Find my Teric’ via SW Cloud (unless it's with Nemo ...). Can not be turned off via watch.

@Jay_Antipodean What has led you to the conclusion that the AI stays on when the Teric is in Watch mode?

I like your ideas about Teric safety and recovery. I.e. owner info locked and "Find my Teric". They wouldn't even have to put a GPS in the Teric. Since the whole concept relies on being connected to the Cloud via the Shearwater app anyway, "Find my Teric" could use the smartphone's location.

@Jay_Antipodean What has led you to the conclusion that the AI stays on when the Teric is in Watch mode?

Just a couple of assumptions; a/ SW say to turn it off and don't imply there's another way to save that battery drain apart from turning it off, and b/ that when AI is on, and watch mode (or screen Off) is entered, AI is still on upon re-entering Dive mode. That's not to say for certain that the battery drain/Comms search was still happening in either of those mode. Perhaps @Shearwater might clarify this?

Nice idea!! A thief could try to avoid SW Cloud via Mobile/Desktop, or have Location Services turned-off, but that could be thwarted by requiring Location Services or using an IP address (latter better than nothing). Another idea would be have a 'Stolen feature' in SW Cloud, and if that Teric is ever connected somehow, it's locked on User Info screen.

Perhaps @Shearwater might clarify this?
Gladly.

The wireless AI circuit is completely off in watch mode.

When in dive mode, and the AI is enabled, the AI will start at 100% of the time while searching for the transmitter. If no transmitter is found within 90sec, the AI will go in to a lower power mode, operating only 50% of the time. It is certainly beneficial to turn AI off if it is not being used. If no transmitter is paired, the AI will be off.

AI circuit is on about 10% of the time with one transmitter and good signal, but this can be 20% or more with two transmitters and some dropouts.

AI impact of 10% on battery life is a very rough number since it depends on so many variables, but it leans toward worst case.

Unpaired at 50% search cycle would be less than 20% battery life impact.

BTW, Thank you for taking the time to write your requests and ideas. We can't promise to implement all of them, but we have certainly taken note.

Cheers

Thanks for that ... it's very interesting.

And you're most welcome re ideas etc too :)

@Jay_Antipodean - Thanks for the tip on the screen protector.

I just installed one of these:

2PCS Universal 9H Tempered Glass Screen Protctor For Round Watch (Φ=30MM-41MM) | eBay

on my Teric. Per info from Jay (which saved me from the severe burden of getting out a tape measure LOL), I ordered a pair of 40mm screen protectors (because I only found them offered in pairs).

I put one on. It fits perfectly and I cannot tell that it's there from looking at the screen itself.

The Teric display is sapphire, so it should be pretty darn scratch proof. But, I figured for a $5 investment, it can't hurt to give it a little more protection.

Hi Tyler. Is is possible to have a confirmation re customization of location of TTS in the above Q (if a decision has been made). Thanks :)

Yes, for OC Rec standard layout, a future firmware update will allow the TTS location to be customized.

Best regards,
Tyler
