I have used the Halcyon Focus light and it was very useful to me

Yes, I like being able to toggle between a wide and narrow beam on my SOLA.

Yes, when ever i want to approach a fish or coral i usually use wide beam, does not blind the fish or make the coral too bright to see.

Tighter beams are more difficult to use while filming as you usually have too much light or not enough.

:thumb: fer sure!

Adjustable beams make a light much more versatile, short of special purpose applications like video or commercial helmet-mounted lights. I'm not sure infinite adjustment within a range matters as opposed to a wide/narrow option.

When I was actively diving for California lobster , aka bugs I preferred a very narrow concentrated light beam- on several of the later larger lights I taped the parameter of the front of the light to substantially narrow the beam.

I would suspect the modern diver who is a look see no take type would appreciate the variable beam light
I think I would

Sure, as long as the range is useful. If narrow is 15 degrees, what's the point?

Love my Halcyon Focus 2.0!

Cave and OW, tight for signalling/low viz, and open it up when your looking at stuff/video

Doubt i'd go back to a fixed beam primary light ..
