I have a tube of 71 and a small jar of 2080L, and I was wondering if the consistency is correct.

The 71 appears somewhat lumpy, with the white PTFE parts appearing lumpy in suspension

The 2070 also seems to separate into a liquid and a more grainy substance, somewhat like oversaturated sugar or crystalizing honey.

Is this normal? The tube of 71 is a few years old, the jar of 2080L is new.

Mine has never been lumpy

I have a tube of 71 ...
71 is still a 'grease' with teflon and other additives mixed in. Large swings in temperature storage will cause separation over time like with any grease and usually the oils will separate out first in extremes. Remixed, it still holds the same properties. I use 71 a bunch but make sure that I keep it inside the house in room temperature controlled and it's doesn't separate.
