(Note: This post has been edited to accurately reflect the travel dates because the dates for Cobalt Coast on Grand Cayman are different from the dates offered for Little Cayman and Cayman Brac.)

I've received an email stating that all 3 of the all-inclusive Clearly Cayman Resorts are offering a "Single Special". Single travelers will pay the same rate that couples pay for double occupancy, which is a nice savings.

You must book by Feb 28 and travel between March 24 and June 30, 2018 for Little Cayman and Cayman Brac (Mid April through June 30 at Cobalt Coast due to construction.)

The packages advertised are for 2 tanks per day but I know from past experience that you can upgrade to add on a daily afternoon dive at Brac and Little, and night dives are offered for an extra fee a couple of nights per week depending on the weather and diver interest.

The special includes 2 meals per day or you can add on a daily lunch or eat at the bar or make other arrangements. You can also add on a drinks package that includes 3 drinks per night but I haven't tried that.

Shore diving on the house reef is included at Cobalt Coast on Grand Cayman (weather permitting) and you can rent tanks and shore dive on Brac and Little, but I haven't tried that either.

Nitrox is available at an extra charge at all 3 resorts; that's pretty standard in the Caymans.

Wow, only problem is there is NO WAY my wife would let me go to Little Cayman on my own. I get to go to Coz 'cause "groupish" drift diving isn't her fav, but Little Cayman...huh uh :shakehead: :)

That's good news; I hope it becomes an annual thing. It's good to see solo travelers get more good options besides live-aboard (live-aboards rock, but aren't right for everybody every time).

Richard.

Upon further research I found Cobalt Coast will be closed early Feb - mid April for a/c upgrades.
So now I'm confused...

Also, nothing on the Clearly Cayman website regarding these, "CAYMAN ISLAND SINGLE SPECIALS'
Is this "inside-information" ???

Re-checking your link to the deal. Cobalt Coast "Travel mid April - June 30, must book by Feb 28 "
Thanks for the heads-up.

Below is the email I received today from Caribbean & Pacific Dive Vacations, a dive vacation vendor. I also checked the Clearly Cayman web site and didn't see anything about the Single Special but that didn't concern me because I have seen that happen in the past. I noticed it recently when the Aggressor Fleet were offering their anniversary sale. It was posted on the web sites for travel retailers at least a week before it finally appeared on the Aggressor web site.

I think sometimes the dive resort or liveaboard lets the travel retailers have the specials first, to bring in the quick responders before they advertise it themselves later.

I've been watching for announcements about specials because the Our World Underwater Expo in now going on in Dallas and it will open in Chicago in 2 weeks. We always go to the Chicago OWU show and there are often "show specials" being featured by resorts, dive ops, LOBs, and travel vendors.

As far as Cobalt Coast being closed for remodeling, that's news - although I do think that CC would benefit from a facelift. I am surprised that they would have scheduled it for Feb, Mar, and April because that is still the high season and the Easter spring break season, usually a busy time in the Caribbean.

When they did the major construction and remodeling project at the Cayman Brac Beach Resort a few years ago, they did it during the slow season of summer and fall so that the remodeling would be done in time for the holidays and winter high season. I would expect them to do the same at CC, but maybe the AC is really bad at CC and they want to get it fixed before the hottest time of the year?

I remember that the pre-construction period for CBBR was very confusing and there were a lot of mixed messages coming out. They were advertising specials while rumors about remodeling were flying but there was nothing on their website to indicate that the resort would be closed for months.

We had been thinking of going CB in the fall that year, but we couldn't get a straight answer as to whether or not they would be open. We finally decided to go to Little Cayman instead - but it was a bit difficult to find flights and a room because other folks were also switching from CB to LC. I am glad that we went to LC that year, we had great weather and beautiful diving and I don't want to spend my precious vacation time on a construction site!

Apparently some people did stay at the CBBR during part of the construction. When we went back to CBBR after the remodeling was finished we met a dive group that had been there during construction. They said that the resort gave them great pricing as well as some "pardon our dust" perks like free Nitrox and free Nitrox certification. That's nice but I'd still rather not stay in a construction zone!

Oh! That's why they have a separate link for the Cobalt Coast special, because the dates are different from LCBR and CCBR.

I've amended my original post above to clarify the dates, thanks!
