Blue Hole Dive Q

I have seen many people refer to the other two dives that you get to do on the Blue hole trip being what makes it worth it. What are the other two sites everyone is referring to? I am going from Caulker rather than Ambergris, and want to make sure I can get the same sites in.

You'd have to check with the individual dive Op. Usually Half Moon Caye and Lighthouse Atoll/Caye walls. They typically do the Blue Hole, do a second morning dive at Half Moon and then have lunch at Half Moon which is a bird sanctuary. A dive along the Lighthouse wall on the way back.

People aren't talking about any 2 sites in particular, it's simply that you get to do a couple dives in the area that many or most folks consider the best diving in Belize. The long haul is getting out there. Once you are out there, there's multiple sites along those walls - the liveaboards stay there most or all of the week. The specific sites chosen may have to do with the dive ops routine, conditions, or if someone else is already on a mooring - but not whether they are coming from AC or CC.

I wouldn't worry too much about what specific sites they might dive, but more on finding an op that will do the trip, that you feel good about doing the Blue Hole with, and that has a comfortable boat for the long ride/day you'll be spending on it.

It has been a few years since I have been to The Blue Hole and Lightouse/Half Moon Caye. The dive sites at Half Moon/Lighthouse were the best dives of our trip which we spent on Ambergris Caye.

The Blue Hole is a dive to do once and I found it interesting. It is one of the few places where you feel like you are skydiving when descending into the darkness that is the Blue Hole. I am going to be staying at Huracan Lodge in May and will dive the Blue Hole again since it is only 10-15 minutes away.

My Blue Hole trip was the only time we saw dolphins on the way there, sharks down below and whales on the way back in the same day. Awesome day, but only desire to do it once due to the depth and distance from Ambergris

Be a scout - be prepared for both
