Nelle is Ellen backwards. Learned to dive for the first time after my 54th birthday this year. My brother has been diving for about 20 years and was stationed in Hawaii. He asked if I wanted to get certified when I was visiting (he is an instructor, a very good one I might add). Now I can't get enough and he is retiring and leaving the island. I just came back from a few more days of awesome diving and looking forward to our next trip. Still need to get the husband certified.

Cold and rainy in NH today. Nothing like Hawaii :(

Welcome to Scubaboard & diving! I love camping up in your area, but there are some interesting dive sites there too. Haven't been yet, but did bookmark the Sunken Forest which looks kinda crazy cool.

But I totally hear you re: the cold, local weather & water. I occasionally dive in my local area, but far prefer the warm water of exotic locales. :)

Welcome. Many of us don't live near conditions we prefer to dive, and you'll see that even those who do (e.g.: southeastern Florida) often take trips to exotic places to broaden their experience.

Richard.

NH is one of the few states I have yet to visit. Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Alaska and Hawaii are the last states I have to visit.

So come shark diving with us in CT on Aug 27th! :)

Come on... 50* degree water and 5' visibility... Diving in the northeast is great... But that's on a bad day... It hits the high 60's and you can get 20' visibility on good days... I was just diving last weekend with my son and his girl down on the coast.. I dive the northern freshwater lakes of Maine... You really want to dive to be a north east diver.. And we have some really great wrecks...

Welcome to SB. Yeah, I've walked the entire NH Coast years ago. All sandy, probably not good for any shore diving. BUT, you guys don't have to wear seatbelts if over 18.......

Go see Donald over in Rye, NH... Very nice guy and a old school northeast wreck diver.. His place is Atlantic Aquasport...

Welcome from RI! Even though I live in the Ocean State, I still enjoy diving in the many lakes and ponds in the area. I used to work near Keene but we moved the office to Maine. Beautiful state with plenty of inland diving.
