I am really leaning towards picking up one of these BCDs. The only thing that gives me pause is that I see they have 4lbs of buoyancy..... wouldn't that be a pretty big problem?

I'm also considering a Zeagle Ranger, but the lack of an integrated weight system is a turn off.... not wild about a weight belt.

Any others in this price range I should consider? I will be doing 90% of my dives in Mexico or here in Texas.

The Ranger does have a weight system:

I'm sorry, I meant the Scout

I use a conquest for rec instruction. I used to use it for rec diving. The additional buoyancy was a surprise to me the first time I used it in Cozumel. I needed 2 pounds more than my normal weight. The pockets on the conquest are great particularly the one on the waist. I use that for defog. The one on the shoulder, I use for keys, credit cards, and tip money.

It has really good weight distribution for a rec bcd. However, if you are really into it, for the same amount of money, you should go to a backplate and wing. Properly setup, you will have the best performance as it is infinitely configurable.

What with the airlines trying to squeeze every penny they can out of their customers, my old faithful Dacor Pro with a steel backplate and Apollo tank strap holders, is just too dang heavy to carry anymore. Anybody out there have a favorite "travel" BC ? Weight integrated is a must for me cause I'm to dang lazy to thread a weight belt these days. We are getting ready to do some diving this summer and I need to change out.

For travel, I use a diverite plastic backplate with integrated weight pouches. It's Very light in comparison to a stainless plate. It's set up so that I can do single backmount, side mount, or doubles backmount. Fits in my carryon easily.

You do need more weight on the other end than a stainless plate though.
