Hey fellow awesome people! I want to know what would make you consider diving in Bali. If you've got a minute please let me know! What would encourage you to dive in Bali? Its for my uni and of course i'm personally extremely interested in what floats your boat ;). It should only take about 2min to complete!
Cheers!

Honestly? A long weekend diving in Bali is cheaper than a long weekend diving locally for me (if I can get a cheapo Jetstar flight to DPS). I do go for long weekends occasionally.

The diving isn't half bad in Bali either.

I won't fill in your survey because my opinion will not be reflected with the questions you Ave posted. To me, although there may be soke reasonable diving in Bali, it is more a case of diving being an activity to do on a holiday in BalI, rather than a case of going to Bali for a diving holiday.

But maybe I'might just biased because Bali just does not float my boat, and TBH I don't know why so many Aussies think it's the bees knees. There are better places in Indonesia to go diving.

I go there to see Mola-Mola :D

Well, actually there are quite variety of diving sites in Bali, from muck diving in Secret Bay, Tulamben, etc., wall diving in Menjangan, wreck diving in Kubu & Tulamben, to Pelagic diving in Crystal Bay, Manta Point in Nusa Penida. Diving in Bali is like going on safari in Tanzania. You rent a car, a DM & a driver & start the Diving Safari from Gilimanuk on the north west end of Bali, diving in Secret Bay, Menjangan on day 1, then go east to Pemuteran, next day to Kubu, Tulamben, Seraya, next day to Candi Dasa, next day to Padangbai, next day to Nusa Penida. Each dive sites are different than the others.

What do I think about diving in Bali? We'll, let's the numbers of my diving destinations speak for themselves. I've been diving in Raja Ampat 5 times, Komodo 3 times, Bunaken once, Lembeh twice, Maratua Atoll once, Wakatobi once, Alor once....and drum rolls, please... Bali 9 times. :D

A free flight, or more realistically, a cheap airfare. Bali is relatively inexpensive. Getting there from this side of the world is not.

... Bali is relatively inexpensive ...

Once upon a time maybe, but I find it excessively expensive as a holiday destination. Much more value for money elsewhere. From Australia, the only thing it has going for it is flight availability.

Cost of 3 days local diving and staying at home is $1000:
3 x 2 tank day trips to GBR or Yongala (inc. lunch) = 3 x $300 = $900
Filling my car to drive to marina every day = $50
Breakfasts and dinners for 3 days (cooking at home) = $50

Cost of diving in Bali for 3 days is less than $800:
Return sale flights on JQ = $400
Cheap hotel inc. transfers from airport for 3 nights = $90
2 days shore diving (3 tanks per day) = $250
Food = $50

Same number of dives. Cheaper. Better food...

It's all relative. And for me, Bali is relatively cheap compared to the cost of staying where I am and diving locally.

Well, I just booked a roundtrip ticket with Singapore Airlines from Houston to Denpasar for November trip for $688. ;)

If one lives in one of the few US cities serviced by Singapore Airlines, they do indeed have good airfares to DPS. For the trip my wife and I took last May, we used Delta airmiles to get to Houston from Atlanta, then utilized one of those good Singapore Airlines fares to which you refer. Our trip connected through Moscow from Houston.
