there are a few changes in the first stage...

the regs ship with spare kits and the first service is on us anyhow. The teflon O ring is used in the first stage balance chamber along with the HP seat poppet being teflon coated versus chromed, it gives a better response and lower IP swing during the cycle, the diaphragm is also new and more responsive and stronger, the reg is Chrome and PVD coated to be more resistant to corrosion and getting scratched up. The HP ports are 90 degrees, not angled like the HOG D3. The DIN wheel is also metal, not plastic. Oh the DIN cap is pretty sweet and comes with a spare O ring, if you are into yoke the yoke knob is metal not plastic.

and ships is a hard box sorta like a Pelican brand one.

The second stage the poppet is redesigned, the exhaust port as well.

Chris, I was referring to those showing up in an exploded diagram. I think the only thing there that would show up is the angle of the HP ports.

Anyway, I think the regs represent a fairly important step forward in the little details over the D3 while maintaining a very good original design.

Thanks, the reason the schematics aren't in the wild is my guy keeps screwing up the names...instead of letting me write them in and send me a doc I can edit he get's embarrassed and says "I will do" ... I need to bug him in a way he saves face

Please post exploded diagram asap and manual when available. Many of us on the diy forum have been waiting for a company to lead when dive rite lost their way. I still morn the day when dive rite announced they would not continue to open source the shop manual for the xt line.

understand. I want to make it as easy as possible for the DIY (but still encourage training and mentoring)

Just to be perfectly clear for those of us who service our own gear will the shop manual be available without taking an additional course?

I would be surprised if that is the case @Candiru . I bought into Hog based on the idea that I'd be able to service them myself. Unfortunately since nobody close by offers the course, I've got regs that I'm still "unable" to service myself. Not a big deal, I can still get the kits, and I still do the service, it's just unsanctioned. I don't blame Hog in any way, and I understand their desire to limit their liability, I even took my first technical course so that I would qualify, but unless you live close to an instructor so that you can work within their schedule, it's really not very feasible.

It seemed that instructors wanted to do the whole Hog line, requiring a bunch of tools and a bunch of work on stuff the student may or may not even own. In my case that would add a lot of extra time and expense when really I just want the official stamp of approval for servicing D1's, D2's and the seconds.

If I could get the service manual sans jumping through hoops, I'd sell my Hogs tomorrow and buy Deep6's. Complete swap. But I don't foresee any circumstances where that would be the case, and I fully understand why.
