It is more like badgering, harassing and most definitely cyber-bullying. I don't see anywhere REAL reputable manufacturers such as Scubapro or Dive Rite or et al. pestering the public like he and his wolf-pack do here.

You would think from that attitude that he is curing cancer when all he does is cut cheap pieces of metal scrap.
The only one "pestering the public" is you. I am cracking up about your "Wolfpack" comment. In case you included me in that be assured that I do not have any business relation with Tobin. Heck, I have never met him except talking on the phone two or three times. I do have several of his his products and have recommended it locally. My dive buddies in the Phillipines love his plates as DSS makes actually a small size which seems to be highly appreciated by often not so tall people in South East Asia.

I'd like to add my 2 cents and get the discussion back on track.
The TransPac is very comfortable, well designed and thought out. It is expensive but can be purchased new for as little a $500+ from etailers or during sales. Used TransPacs come up for sale regularly and those prices are more reasonable.
I like the different sizing and the integrated weight system and the pockets, accessories, etc. that can be added as needed. Some will consider this "clutter" or "fluff", but I don't. DiveRite support is excellent. DSS does offer sizing as well, and any BP/W can be modified for detachable weights and accessory pockets, but perhaps not as smoothly integrated as the DiveRite system.
The TransPac is modular, and different wings can selected as per your needs. The Zeagle BCDs-not so much. Have you looked at the Zeagle Brigade?

woof? :idk:

(is my avatar thus appropriate?) :rofl3:

LOL, I think that you are supposed to make this sound: "Ahh-wooooooo"

(I had to look up the spelling of the sound the wolf makes :) )

I have been looking for a new (new to me at least) BC. I have read a few of the threads on here and looked around the internet and a little at the whopping 2 LDS in my area. I am currently looking at a Zeagle Ranger (and a couple of other Zeagles) along with a Dive Rite Transpac. My question about the transpac is what are the BP/W competitors? I like the padded harness and back on the transpac and have not found too many BP/W setups that have that.

Any and all input appreciated.

Thanks
I had a Ranger when I first started diving 18 years ago. Enjoyed the BCD and would still be diving it if it had not been damaged by mice while in storage. (That's another story.) Since I had to get a new BCD, I started here and began shopping. Came across the Transpac and also considered the Transplate. Could have gone either way. but based on MY diving needs, I ended up with the Transpac.

I just had a week of diving in Playa del Carmen last month, and can tell you my thoughts.

1. Loved having a donut shaped wing. The ranger uses a upside down U and air can get trapped if you are inverted. Not so with my new Transpac and wing.
2. Enjoyed the free feeling of not so much 'stuff' around my front.
3. Missed having pockets, but fixed that with tech shorts over my wetsuit. Put the pockets on my thighs instead of around my waist. I could actually see what I was getting, instead of by feel.
4. Did need trim pockets on the upper cam band to get more horizontal. But had the same issue with the Ranger, so no biggie.
5. Not weight integrated, so I needed a weight belt. Again not a big deal. If you prefer integrated, you can get weight pockets for the 2" webbing.

Good luck with your purchase. don't let all the Scuba Board hype get to you. Lots of people here prefer BP/W and that's fine for them. I thought I would end up there also, but when I factored everything in, traveling with a plate was the deciding factor and I went with the Transpac.
