Hi, San Diego wreck divers:

San Diego's newest ocean non-profit, Ocean Sanctuaries, is looking for citizen science divers to collect photographic data of the marine life on the artificial reef HMCS Yukon in San Diego California.

Currently we are only collecting photographic data of the invertebrates on the ship, but in the near future we will be looking for photographs of vertebrates as well, ie: fish.

We are asking that divers just do the dive they would normally do on the ship, and take photographs of the invertebrate life that they see ( any and all species are accepted: gorgonian sea fans, sea stars, sea cucumbers, sponges, Kelp, algae, etc.) and submit them to our species scientific database.

No penetration of the wreck is required and we request that no diver exceed their level of training at any time.

Please see this link for more information: Ocean Sanctuaries | – 2015 Yukon Marine Life Survey

Many thanks in advance, and please feel free to contact me offline if you have any further questions.

I will be diving this soon. I wonder why more people have not made any comments here yet. This post is over a year old.
