I use Aladin 2G last four years, bought the same to my son.
Big screen and contains all functions that you may need for recreational diving + two gases support.
You can find new one on ebay less than 150 $, I bought for 200$ in local shop on sale.
Most my technical friends use AV1 and sure that it is the best technical computer, which of cause can be used in recreational mode like Petrel.
Today you can buy it about 600$. Logistic is the issue here, as I didn't find USA dealer on they site.

4th page, and the opp has not specified what kind of diver he is. So we see a "pissing" contest. What a waste of time :)

Not sure if you are interested or not, but I just posted a Suunto Vyper air black in the classifieds section for $500 w/ transmitter.

I don't know if the OP is still looking at this thread, but if you want a Galileo, you can solve the screen readability problem easliy. The problem is not the screen, but the protective plastic cover which causes reflections and scratches, and snaps on and off for ease of replacement. Just take it off and put a ZAGG protective cover directly on the screen. In reality, the Galileo is the most legible and readable of the LCD screens I have ever seen. It is not the same as color, of course, but has big advantages in battery life. The ZAGG that fits is for the Galaxy Note 4 phone, which is the perfect horizontal dimension, and only needs to be trimmed to the right height.

Of the computers listed, the Galileo Sol would be my pick.

The OP indicated he was looking for a transmitter, which eliminates Petrel, as it was not clear if he understood the Petrel was not AI.

I see more of this Petrel lacks the AI "life threatening failure point" utter nonsense. Really, if that is what fanboys have to resort to . . . The petrel has abundant virtues, I will be the first to say, but "AI will kill you" is just insane.

Hopefully the OP will know better.

Petrel..change out the "AA" batteries on the deck of the boat in seconds...if you do screw up and exceed NDL's it will guide you safely through the required deco. Upgrades are downloaded through bluetooth (at no cost). No need to ever buy another computer again ever and their customer service is off the charts.

How come the sub gravity or the genz black aren't options? They're currently the two on the table of choice for my next from an o.g. suunto cobra.
