Hi SB,
I am looking for a small waterproof case for scuba diving. It needs to fit a Samsung cell phone, I do not need to use the phone under water. I have been looking for the otter box people mention, not sold anymore.

Any ideas? This is for scuba diving, so it need to be waterproof to no less than 100 feet.

I have searched the forums and can't find what I am looking for, if this is redundant please point me in the right direction.

Thanks,
TinFins

Otter not made anymore? Still on Amazon.com....Amazon.com : Small Dry Box - Otter 1000 Size - 3.700" x 2.350" x 1.000" (Black) : Sports & Outdoors. Pelican makes a similar case, the 1030 Micro.

Depending on which Samsung phone you have, you may be able to get an actual underwater case for it, designed for U/W photography with the phone.

Please understand that it is a serious risk to take the phone underwater; the Otter/Pelican cases are NOT all that good. Best of all would be sealed canister (Delrin or Alum) like the ones used to carry EPIRBs.

Thank you, I went to the otter box website and it showed as discontinued. I will (maybe) try that out. Now that I think of it, I do have a spare camera housing, bulky for the purpose, but very waterproof.

This may work for you: S3 T2000 Watertight Case

I would put the phone in zip lock bags or one of those bag type waterproof cases first (or both) in case of a leak.

It is easy to underestimate how good water is at penetrating at 100 ft. Lots of things that seem watertight are not.

Here is another one WDS-K200 they make dive housings for I phones and rate this accessory box at 200'

The watershot suggested above seems very promising.

Thanks!

Fyi, internal dimensions of the Watershot WaterBox: 5 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 1 1/2"

The internal dimensions are not listed on their website, I called and was told this over the phone.

Why not?
If you have a Galaxy S3 or S4 you can use it as a camera, as back-up dive computer and to see maps of a dive site while diving.

The design approach appears to be similar to an Otter Box, and the Otter Box and others like it are notoriously subject to random leakage despite the "depth rating." As others have said, the only truly safe housing for scuba depths is the canister kind used for EPIRBs/PLBs and dive lights.
