Sorry for the brief report...This was our fourth trip to Bonaire. Stayed at Villa Ganshi (Welcome to the Villa Ganshi beach villa on Bonaire) with another couple who had never been to Bonaire. Right out the back door from Villa Ganshi is the dive site Something Special. The house was amazing along with the dive site. Most days we would start the morning with a dive behind the house, go do a couple shore dives elsewhere, then end the day with another dive behind the house. The house can sleep 3 couples easily. The furthest north we dove was Andrea I & II. Most of the shore dives that weren't behind the house were at the southern sites. Vis was ~50-60' most of the week.

My wife and I both agreed that the reef seemed to be much more alive than in February. Lot's of juvenile fish that must have been this years hatch. Love the little black and gold spotted juvenile trunkfish. As hard as we tried, we could not get a good in-focus pic of those little devils.

We saw way more lionfish this trip than the previous three combined. There was not a single dive where someone from our party did not see a lionfish. I think the hunting efforts need to be stepped up a bit.

Enjoy the pics!

On my goodness... I may never attempt to take another underwater image... What equipment are you using? I can't get over the crispness of the images. Depth of field perfect... Just awesome...

Jim

Nice pics... I love the jawfish and the eyes on the 3rd puffer.
Bonaire was the first place I have ever been able to dive with a school of bonefish.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the kind words. We were using a Canon 5D mkIII in an Ikelite housing w/ DS51 strobes. This was the first trip using the 5D in the uw housing. We are very pleased with the pictures!

Excellent Photos and thanks for the info on the villa. I love SS and would not mind to have it for a house reef! :D

Sweet shots! Enjoyed them. Sharpness and definition on some were impressive. I agree - that jawfish shot is a keeper! Also liked the pair of bone fish.

Richard.

Thanks! Yes, having SS as a house reef is hard to beat! The house isn't shabby either :)

Great shots. The photos are excellent. The DOF you are getting with a FF camera on the macro shots is impressive. The kick butt AF of the 5DIII is definitely in evidence.
