i am diving in a ds and dont have a pee valve. i have not dove tech in a ds yet so i have not been drinking alot prior to diving for rec what about needing to pee,
It is really nice to say, put a pee valve in your suit. That doesn't help you tomorrow, but it is very good advice for the future. Restricting fluids is never a good idea - you don't need to drink a gallon of water immediately before jumping in, but don't stop drinking just to reduce your urine output. Making sure you empty your bladder immediately before zipping up you suit is a necessary behavior.
are adult nappies a good idea to wear under a drysuit, anybody do this? will the rest of my undergarment be completely dry? are they bulky etc? any advice please!!!!
Yes, they are - in the absence of a pee valve - a very good idea. Will the rest of the undergarment be
completely dry - it depends - on the volume of pee, and both the absorbent capacity of the diapers and how well they fit you. Unless you produce 6 quarts of urine during the dive, the undergarment should stay dry. And, it is relatively easy to wash an undergarment, less easy to flush out the inside of the suit. If I am going into an environment where it will not be possible to simply call the dive and surface because you absolutely need to pee (i.e. there is a deco obligation), then I would (and have) without hesitation wear adult diapers under my suit.
Unless your undergarment is already extremely 'snug', and unless your drysuit is already extremely 'snug', the thickness of the diaper should not be a problem. They are very absorbent, and the material is dense, but they do compress. That may actually reduce their capacity a bit, but they should still work.
