Last I heard, EAD had nothing to do with narcosis and everything to do with NDL.And yes, oxygen seems to have greater narcotic potential than nitrogen, so the whole concept of EAD of a nitrox mix is misleading.
I don't know about PADI, but the SSI Nitrox handbook I have here suggests nothing like that.padi and ssi do a VERY BASIC course for just single mixes 32% 36% (no tables and single set computer ) waste of money courses lol

I didn't have a basic course. My PADI course, in 2007, included all the formulas to be able to calculate my mixes for any percent nitrox that I would like to dive. It was certainly comprehensive and took me quite a few hours to complete the knowledge reviews, problems and test. I feel quite comfortable doing nitrox calculations and using any mix from 21%-40%. I also did two dives for my card.padi and ssi do a VERY BASIC course for just single mixes 32% 36% (no tables and single set computer ) waste of money courses lol
Are you talking about PSAI Narcosis Management classes? I have no interest in learning to go any deeper than 130 feet on air. In fact, I'm wanting to go into the tech classes so that I can start using trimix between 100-130 feet. But I think level IV is about 180feet? No thank you!If they live in a PADI bubble, then no.

By the way, do YOU know to what depth the Narcosis Management Level IV certification allows one to dive?

Laws of physiology.

Maximum operating depth, MOD, still is relevant. Very relevant.
When you test the mix after your tanks are filled, be a pain in the butt if it is 31% or 33%. After all, your table says 32% and they better fix that fill!!!
Analyzers aren't even that accurate. +-1% is more than close enough.
No reason to be a pain in the butt over a single percentage.
