I've got my first BP/W today and now it's time to put everything together.
Any tips regarding adjustment and care?

I actually did a search and this may help you osme, though not sure what kind of harness you have.

thank you. the harness is already threaded though. I just need to adjust it.
 
You are correct, Sir. It goes to the right.

I would suggest loose shoulder straps, since you are adjusting everything. ;)

The buckle doesn't have to go "way" to the right. It did that back in the days when it was used to keep the light canister in place, but the majority of us now use a second buckle to do that. I would even think the buckle could stay to the left of the crotch strap loop, were it not for the fact that that puts the knife where it is not as easily reached with the right hand.
