I am taking my wife to Nassau next month (her first time). She is not a big water person (she's looking forward to the trip), and I would like to do some snorkeling for the first time. I've tried to contact one of the local dive shops down there without much luck, so any info I can get is a plus.

Thanks!

Stuart Cove's does snorkeling tours as well. They are probably your best bet. Very professional operation.

Are you staying in Nassau or on Paradise Island?

Stuarts Coves website says when they run trips. They have a bus that goes to most hotels and will pick you up and drop you off. If you dont get in touch with them i wouldnt worry to much. At least this is the way it is when i have gone there (at least 5 times).

We're staying in Nassau.

I heard back from them once, kind of a general purpose reply. I replied back asking for more specifics regarding snorkeling, but never heard anything else.

I would like (wouldn't we all?) something definitive. The other situation I have is having to bring the wife along.

Stuart Cove's will take care of you. Don't worry about it.

Another option (still Stuart Cove) is to sign up for a snorkeling trip at Atlantis on Paradise Island. Stuart's has two boats permanently at Atlantis' marina. 1 is a dedicated snorkeling boat.

I dove with Bahama Divers once and wouldn't again. Boats were way too overcrowded and were pretty much a cattle call. If your wife is new around water and you want this to be a good experience, I would avoid Bahama Divers.

Atlantis isn't too far from where I'm staying so that is definitely a good thing to fall back on. Thanks!

Thanks! I like the fact that they have specific information for snorkeling. Do you think Lopez116's experience is standard or just a fluke?

Are you staying on Paradise Island? At one of the other nearby hotels like Comfort Suites or the Best Western? The reason I ask is that both of those - and probably several others - have an arrangement so that their guests get use of some of the Atlantis facilities. If one of them is either of these two programs, you might like this instead: Snorkel the Ruins of Atlantis During Your Caribbean Vacation

I don't know what the specific designation of "resort guest" is but it might be worth trying to find out. If you're staying at a Cable Beach resort , I don't think it applies.

Lopez116 has much more recent experience than I do. I haven't dove with BD in many years. Bahama Divers gets a lot of the Atlantis traffic that doesn't want to ride 45mins. to Cove's since they're just across the bridge from Paradise Island.

And yet one more dive/snorkel option (last one that's both afaik): Services | Explore Scuba Bahamas is the only dive operator located right on Paradise Island

Also a snorkel only operation is: Snorkeling | Seahorse Sailing Adventures - but
accommodations for up to 280 passengers.
doesn't even seem legal on a 65' catamaran...even spread over all 3 of their boats it must be crowded.
