I just purchased a new Puck and it came with two dives already in the log book. I was told by the retailer (ScubaToys) that this was normal and just the checkout dives. Is this true? If so, how do I get rid of those dives from the logbook? Thr 1st dive shows 11' for 0 minutes, the second dive shows 190' for 20 minutes. I want onlm my dives to show up.

I do not have the software/cable for the computer by the way.

Thanks in advance.

This is normal because they test the computer to make sure its within specification.
The puck only stores 25 dives so do some more diving and they'll be gone soon.

The Puck manual says it holds 50 dives, but I get your point - I just have to dive more until this becomes a non-issue. Living in Chicago does not help hurry this along...

I am coming down to the Keys in a few weeks so that will help.

11' for 0 minutes, 190' for 20 minutes - it will be pretty obvious they're not your real dives anyway!

I bought the same computer from a different place and mine had a dive also in the logbook. I believe it is normal. Mine showed 188' for 18 mins. I doubt any recreational activity, perhaps some sort of quality test.

I love the computer, it's so easy to use.

So I dove this weekend and used my new computer. After the 1st dive, I took the computer off to pull down my wet suit and dry off. Later I put the computer back on and noticed that the buckle "tab" was missing. The steel rod on the band had worked itself loose somehow and the tounge was gone! I had to clip the computer on my D-ring for my remaining dives. After one dive, I have to find a repair shop since this is now not very useful. Be aware of this "feature" - I am quite disappointed at this point.

Glad to learn that I am not the only one experiencing this. My brand new Puck came with two (pretty illogical) dives already in the logbook. I was looking for a way to reset this, aside from just diving, diving and diving until the memory erases these. Funny that Mares does not specify this strange feature in the instructions manual...

I guess it is not a «real problem», but if anyone knows how to fix this, I'll be glad to read all about it.

Thanks!

Just to confirm, the dives you see on a brand new Puck computer are quality control dives. Mares simulates 2 dives at the factory prior to packaging for delivery to the retailer. Unfortunately you cannot delete these dives, but as mentioned they will fall off after 50 dives are logged on the computer. Best, Zak

Zak,

That is good information to know. As a suggestion, you might want to put a note in (or on) the box. I returned what was most likely a perfectly good computer because it had water spots on it and showed two dives. Had I known that was normal, it would have saved everyone involved a bit of trouble.

I'll admit, I didn't take a close look at the log, just noted that there were two entries and managed to talk myself into thinking I was getting a used computer instead of a new one. Oops.
