There's the rubberized weight belt that free divers use. I'm surprised that you don't have one yourself.
I've thought about it, and I knew someone was going to mention them.

Not to mention that though you may be an accomplished free diver, many of the skills don't translate so you'd be very task loaded just scuba-ing alone much less adding photography to the mix. I think that it's worst for free divers because they're so used to freedom of movement and now suddenly it's like somebody chopped their limbs off.
I am used to being task loaded and tend to thrive on it. My task loading tends to also be higher than over 80% of the people I have met and worked with.

BTW, with the dimension I3, mask, fins and no wetsuit I needed 6lbs of weight.

What sort of tank? Was it full?

Also, just for giggles, see if you can weigh yourself sans wetsuit but fins & mask. If you sink like a rock, then we'd know that you're not a floater. For me, I think that I need 2-lbs to sink myself sans wetsuit but with fins & mask in freshwater.

So I have been thinking about why I would like to get a BP/W over the AL Dimension I3. It hit me last night as I was going to bed and makes perfect sense to me now. At work when I am using an SCBA what I have is a Backplate and harness which I find very comfortable even though I can be wearing it for up to an hour and I don't have water to help with the weight. While I found the Dimension I3 comfortable it just didn't feel secured to my body like I prefer and a bit on the bulky side. The BP/W setup on the other hand would give me all that, both a back inflate BCD and a BP/W would satisfy my preference for the bladder to be in the back.

Well if you've already made your choice, which bp/w are you leaning towards?

I've been leaning torwards the DSS steel backplate with LCD 40 wing, although have also been thinking of getting the kydex backplate and then the plate weights instead. I still need to call and talk to Tobin about weighting and wings, not quite prepared to spend the money as stupid car repairs have eaten into my kit fund. I do keep going back and forth between just a back-inflate bcd or a bp/w, trying to arrange to at least try a bp/w on before I commit. Its mostly I have just figured out why I have been leaning torwards the BP/W seeing as how it is similar to what I am used to for other uses, which doesn't mean it will feel the same to me when I actually use one. At the same time I like the AL Dimension but the fit is just a little off.

So I found a Dacor Rig 2 on ebay and wondering how good of a bcd it is? While not my first choice the price looks a little tempting, I have tried searching here but haven't found much info. I do know that I would probably modify the weight integration with a modified clip to get away from the velcro.

Regardless of how good a deal is, if it isn't a good fit it's money down the drain.

Take the time to get it right the first time. Getting 2 bcds isn't good idea unless both have a purpose.
