Here is some video shot with The Go Pro and the MAKO flat lens at a max depth of 185 feet. No filters, no lights, no video editing or corrections to exposure or color etc.

Nice recording. That Gopro did an excellent job there. Was the lighting that good that far below?

Ah yeah, there were no lights used, but the visiility was good; maybe 60 feet or so.

Was at DEMA Nov 2nd and visited the GoPro booth. Saw a prototype of their new flat port housing for u/w shooting w/o focus issues. It has no vignetting at any resolution setting. It's a rather large rectangle port, but looks rugged. Supposedly ~$50/each and coming out in December.

I built my own for my Sartek housing using a 1.5" to 1.25" PVC pipe reduction bushing, a thumb screw, and a scrap piece of material from a damaged high-end URPRO CY filter I had laying around. It's removable underwater which is a very handy feature to have. You don't always want it on there during your dive. Looks ghetto but works very well. Here are some pics:

Nice engineering, looks like a removable filter housing and not a flat plane airspace between camera and water. Did you remove the dome from the housing ? Probably can't see well in the picture.

Just saw the distributor catalog from GoPro in Scandinavia. There is an image of a bulky flat port housing with text under it saying "coming this winter". who knows when that is going to happen, did not find anything on their site.
