Refering to Seabob, there is one main rule: You have to keep the batterie charged!!! If it discharges in time (after a long winter of not using the Seabob) the batterie is waisted! It is the only week spot of this high tech batterie. During Seabob usage it can't get empty, because the electronic protects the batterie and reduces the speed step by step until shut down protection.
Howerver, when a Seabob is stored and not charged over many months it will start beeping untill it is comletely discharged. A new battie costs about 40% of the Seabob price! This batterie is also used in Satellites and armed forces ... it is still the reliable and best batterie money can buy! It will not fail after one year like your lap top batterie ...
