Anyone tried Seabob?

I cant see this being something I would buy unless:

-it was rated to 450ft
-a tether system was available
-can be used 1 handed
-available in black
-priced to be affordable...

holding onto that thing with doubles and 2 stages would be like holding onto a kite in a tornado. Definitely not marketed to the tech diving crowd.

Well, that esplains how at least one of the divers beat the "arm fatigue" problem...he's tied to the scooter!

And that just seems like a terrible idea!

seabob is good for teck diving because you can adjust the power very good and save.

it is possible to go by one hand when it is attached like conventional scooters.

it is available in silver or titan ... black will heat up to much in the sun!!!

the price you pay will give you best material and best technical st up.

the batterie ist state of the art (no lap top or mobile phone batteries ... let alone car batteries.)

it is the batterie mercedes is using for their electric car concept, and the batterie used in satellites. it will las 16 years without loosing considerable capacitie.

Ny the way, recoretional diving depht ist 40 m ... so it is ok for that. if you go deeper, you should buy a pipe with car batteries inside and a loud propeller on the end.

You can't talk abeout Seabob if you haven't tried!!! Its something totaly different!

I saw some in Ft Lauderdale. They are not intended for scuba. They are fast, they are very expensive toys for the Jet Set club, poor folks need not apply. I imagine Tiger (had) some, for example. Most people are not going to pay 10,000 plus for a toy of limited use.

Well I, for one, am impressed. Sir Robin may not get much from this board - understandably so, but I will give credence to anyone that innovates an underwater vehicle that never existed before. I know that Robin didn't invent this scooter on steroids, but whoever did is in a small club of innovators that knows no national bounderies, and being a part of that club (yes I invent many things that never existed) I welcome the Germans into this club.

Its good design. It may not be for traditional scuba, but its good design, and has a purpose. Someday some other design may stand on Seabobs shoulders that may be a real step beyond scooters - somewhere between the two, and may eventually have a reasonable pricepoint.

I'd sure rent one if I had the chance (after I duct-taped my mask on).

i just found your article while I was looking up seabob problems. So glad about it.... We bought one in june and used it there around mid june. In fact we did not read the manual...now (august) we wanted to use it again....and it will not charge!! It is still beeping, so it is not completely dead! Do you think it is too late already and we have to replace the battery??

Hi Dani, as long it is beeping there is a chance that you can charge the batterie.

REMEMBER, its like the Gremlins ... don't feed them after midnight ;-)

Refering to Seabob, there is one main rule: You have to keep the batterie charged!!! If it discharges in time (after a long winter of not using the Seabob) the batterie is waisted! It is the only week spot of this high tech batterie. During Seabob usage it can't get empty, because the electronic protects the batterie and reduces the speed step by step until shut down protection.
Howerver, when a Seabob is stored and not charged over many months it will start beeping untill it is comletely discharged. A new battie costs about 40% of the Seabob price! This batterie is also used in Satellites and armed forces ... it is still the reliable and best batterie money can buy! It will not fail after one year like your lap top batterie ...
