I am a small shouldered woman, and just love the fit of my Aqualung Pearl. It is very snug, no check strap to cut into you, and great weight pockets. I couldn't tell whether you are a man or woman by your post. Good Luck.

Your analogy implies that a BP/W is some super high tech dive gear that only experienced divers should use. It's not. A BP/W is a simple device to hold a tank or tanks securely to a divers back. While I'll grant you that most recreational divers, using a single tank, diving recreational depths will do just fine with a conventional jacket BC. They usually have to gain more experience and practice before they can realize any advantage of switching. Most never bother and go on to make 1000's of fun dives, comfortable in their conventional setups.

I find it truly hilarious that Halemano has spent 100's (1000's maybe?) of posts trying to convince SB that BP&W's offer no performance advantage over jacket BC's and that anyone who might suggest as much is guilty of "lazy typing" (oh the horror!)

Now Halemano is suggesting that BP&W's are unfit for the new diver because they are the equivalent of learning to fly in a jet or learning to ski on racing skis.

That's down right funny.

The Aries 5 Oceans is a good back inflate BC and has pretty good lift. The dive shop I help teach at sells a fair ammount of them and sells them to a lot of the fire departments they certify. I don't personally know that much about it because I have an OMS RDS vest style BC which has great lift (60 lbs,) two tank straps to help hold your tank more securely, each weight pocket holds 15 pounds plus trim pockets on the back, it has 6 D rings so you have plenty of room to clip stuff on, large pockets and has two dump valves. It is pricy but is a very nice BC and will be my BC of choice until I upgrade to a technical BP&W.
