I figured the tech community would swear by these types of fins for various reason, so I was wondering: what's the difference between each fin.
What are your preferences
What are your opinions on each styles' strengths and weaknesses

But most important in my opinion, what's the difference between them.
-dimensions
-buckles
-durability
-WEIGHT

I'm looking to buying one of these fins but I only have local access to scubapro's jet fins.

Thanks in advance.

Fit. Use the fin that fits your boots, that's far and away the most important feature. For me, that's XL Jets with my turbosoles or wet boots.

1+.

Buy the dive boot first, then fit the fin to the boot.

I'm a long time "Jet Fin Fan" (size XXL for my huge feet with thick-soled dive boots); but good fit trumps everything else.

Best wishes.

If i'm in a pool or tropical wearing gym socks, then I wear XL jets. With normal wetsuit booties, XXL OMS Slipstreams, and drysuit boots are XXL Jetfins. Apparently the XXL is now the XXXL and the XXL is midway between the old, so I guess I could switch the Slips to Jetfins, but I am rather fond of my Slipstreams... Much much lighter both in the water and on land. About have the dry weight of the jet fins and near neutral in the water

FWIW, I have the Turtles, and they are pretty heavy. My buddy has the Jets (which I've never used), and despite me being in significantly better shape, he out-swims me all the time.

Don't get me wrong, I like my Turtles, but given the right opportunity, and if they fit well, I would get the Jets.

what's the difference between each fin.

Foot box in the Turtle is much larger and shaped differently than the Jet fin.

With my wetsuit I use Jets. With my drysuit (larger boots) I use Turtles. I'm competent with each.

Same here. Other than the fit, they are the same. There is no difference functionally.

Thanks everyone
I do agree that fit is the most important thing
However I can only get Jet funs loacally
The other's I'll have to buy through an online source, so I can't test the fit for all of them.
That's the main reason I started this thread. I like to know if I'd prefer another fin over Jets and if it be worth taking a risk on fit.

I'm wondering if there's really any big difference between the 3 in term of performance or capability.

If it helps I wear 3mm booties with a hard, flexible rubber sole.
My size is Men's 8

Agree. Crucial issue is fit.

With my wetsuit I use Jets. With my drysuit (larger boots) I use Turtles. I'm competent with each.

Do you see any huge difference in performance or weight between the two?
Are the turtle fins any longer, wider or shorter than the jet fins?

If you are looking for the performance of those fins, but would like to check out something different then give the Hollis F1s a look. They're not as heavy as the Jets, but still provide very good propulsion and control. They also come with spring straps (and comfy foot pockets) standard. I use them whenever I use my drysuit and/or doubles.

If you are diving a wetsuit and single tank I also suggest OMS Slipstreams. Very Jet-like, but not as heavy so they don't have a tendency to make a diver foot-heavy (or in the case of my lazy self, cause burning thighs from staying in trim and frog-kicking).

Peace,
Greg
