This is a very good news, but they are still cautious as everything can fail.
It's an incredible amount of oil spilled to the ocean. The consecuencies will be seen for years in the gulf.

Yes at this point the oil is stopped. Now, as stated, something still could fail, they are talking some big pressures from the oil / gas at huge depths. I just hope that if they dont see any weaknesses forming they just leave it shut. I know it's supposed to be a 'test' right now, but if they dont see problems dont open the well again til it can be killed for good.. I've been watching a lot of the feeds lately, and it was pretty interesting watching what they can do with those ROV's... Was bummed to have missed the oil 'shutting off' that would've been cool to see happen..

I thought their plan was just to stop it, so they could retap it properly again and start collecting the oil again. They were getting a ton of barrels a day out of there, and I doubt they are just going to let that go. The damage that the spill already caused and will continue to cause is IMO the worst environmental disaster of my life time. Yet no one avoids BP stations (atleast that I can tell), and besides a bit of internet chatter I don't see much being done about it.

We need to boycott BP period. I have. Dump all their stock. Make a point. It makes me sick that their stock is still on the rise after this international environmental debacle!

Seriously? Why don't you do us all a favor and go back to grade school and learn a thing or two. What do you think would happen if everybody boycotted BP? Eventually they would say "hey, guess we're broke because everybody stopped buying our oil, so now we don't have enough money to finish cleaning up the spill". Then who's left with the bill? The American tax payer, that's who. Uncle sam will continue funding the clean up effort and raise taxes in the process, which means more of the money you and I and everybody else makes goes towards the clean up. Not to mention, how many gas stations would go out of business who simply get their gas from BP? They would be completely screwed by a nation wide boycott. So why don't you stop for a few mins and think about what you're saying. :shakehead:

And then the money for the clean up will come from where? I've been looking for BP stations to buy from,if they belly up guess who pays the bills? A boycott in a foolish ill-thought reaction that can only make the situation worst.

That was an exploratory well they weren't pumping any oil from it. It has only cost them money so far and lots of it.

gfyrasng I must have missed your post didn't intend to copy you. Hope more people have the common sense not to boycott BP. My word you'd think they did this on purpose!

Haha no big deal AD. Just wish more people would pull their heads out of their arses. Like you said, if anything we should be supporting them. Plus just think of how many small business owners would go under if everybody started boycotting BP. They just buy their gas from BP. I really hope stakanak comes back to read this thread and changes his ways. Seems like a lot of people now days have lost the ability to think for them selves.
